Gin combined with Shiraz grapes? Bloody brilliant. This crazy experiment using Four Pillars original Rare Dry Gin steeped with local cool climate Shiraz grapes has become a cult-favourite, the perfect balance of sweet fruit and ginny goodness.

The blending of Viognier with Shiraz (aka Syrah) is a traditional French winemaking method from the Northern Rhone Valley appellation of Cote Rotie and some other areas. South Australian winemaker Johnny Quarisa takes his cue from that great wine region and blends a dash of Viognier with this Shiraz to enhance its dark fruit flavours and robust tannic style. The softness and rich fruity flavours that a little Viognier brings adds approachable drinkability to this full bodied dry red. It drinks well now and can further age for three to four years, even at this modest price.

Winemaker Corey Ryan may be Australian born and bred but he has a strong Kiwi connection, having been chief winemaker at Villa Maria for about a decade, before returning home to the Barossa to make superlative wines such as this great spicy red. This brand is a collaboration between Ryan and Nicholas Crampton, who collectively aim to make great value wines that over deliver and shine a new light on classic styles. This 100% Shiraz and comes from a blend of two regions, 80% Langhorne Creek, south of Adelaide, and 20% Barossa Valley. This wine is a deep red with a bright magenta hue. On the nose there are vibrant aromatics of red and black berry fruits, a lift of violet florals, clove spice and mixed garden herbs. The palate is dominated by a lively burst of berry fruits, which are well framed by fine, powdery tannins. Juicy plum and blackberry flavours persist through the finish, with sweet spice to close

Produced with selected small parcels of old, dry grown Barossa Shiraz from nearly 30 of the Barossa’s finest grape growing families. The vineyards are situated in different sub regions throughout the Barossa, which adds to the complexity and depth of flavours. The wine is hand made using equipment from the turn of the last century, then aged in American and French oak for two years. All this contributes to the objective to make the very highest quality, traditional, soft, deep coloured, earthy Australian red wine which will bottle age.

Winemaker Corey Ryan named Marschall Shiraz in homage of the late David Marschall, a martial artist , actor and demolition expert, whose legacy lives on through his vineyards in Barossa Valley's Tanunda and Ebenezer districts. And grapes from those two areas make up the backbone of this deeply fruity, dry, full bodied Shiraz, which is one of the outstanding reds in the Sons of Eden range. A great wine from a great new-ish brand, which highlights the potential of the world's most famous Shiraz region.

Son's of Eden Pumpa is a full bodied red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Tempranillo, all grown in the Eden Valley, a higher altitude and slightly cooler climate area of the Barossa Valley. 

This wine is named as a tribute to Len Pumpa and his fellow Eden Valley winemakers who pioneered one of Australia's most challenging but rewarding winemaking regions. 

Eden Valley had a mix of British and continental European settlers that tried their hand at grape-growing. When times were tough particularly in the 1920s many turned away from viticulture, however the Prussian settlers like Len Pumpa persisted in the face of difficulty, preserving the vineyard resources we are custodians of today.

The Lovegrass Shiraz is an easy drinking yet full bodied wine. Juicy ripe fruits, earthiness and integrated spicy oak are present on the nose. The palate is rich with blackberry and chocolate notes which are complemented with moderate acidity. This is a great example of a robust Australian Shiraz. 

Impressive powerful Shiraz made from 150 year old vines in the Barossa Valley. This rich and elegant wine has  complex aromas of red fruit, chocolate and herbs, complemented by an underlying savoury note. The palate is juicy and fruity, with a good dose of sweet spice. The fruit character in this expressive wine is balanced by the fine grained tannins and a long finish.
