Linkwood 14 Years Old 2010/2025 First-fill PX Finish #168 (56.6% ABV) is a bold, small-batch Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled by Blackadder for the Raw Cask series. Distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2025 after 14 years of maturation, it’s finished in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry cask (cask #168) and released at a powerful 56.6%—ideal for fans of cask-strength Speyside with rich, dark-fruit intensity.

This whisky tells a different story of The Macallan spirit and casks, but more than that it tells a story of rarity. Less than 100 casks maturing at The Macallan distillery have contributed to the creation of this out of character whisky. These mysterious casks remained untouched in the dark warehouses of The Macallan under the watchful eye of our Master Whisky Maker, until he felt they were ready to be released.

Smoky Macallan is rare - there is very little in existence - and once used these casks will be no more. Unexpected and distinctive in flavour with full bodied richness from the Macallan spirit, Rare Cask Black is an unusual smoky spirit that tells a story of creativity and innovation.

A very easy drinking single malt Scotch whisky from the Speyburn distillery, situated right on the river Spey. An excellent value dram with flavours of creamy toffee, citrus (particularly oranges, marmalade), delicate floral notes and a drying finish with a wee whiff of smoke in the background. A lovely and easy-to-drink malt from the heart of whisky in Scotland.

Burgundy Chardonnay barrels were used for the maturation of this Speyside whisky. The result is a fresh, clean Speyside with noticeable Chardonnay notes of butter, citrus and vanilla. This is an excellent value whisky.

Balvenie is the young, strident upstart compared to it's owner and next door neighbour Glenfiddich. The Balvenie team get to experiment a little with their whisky, using weird and wonderful types of wood and new strains of barley etc. The Balvenie Double Wood is their best, and No. 1 whisky.?It's a rich amber in the glass - not quite to the extent of Hugh Hefners velvet drapes - but a warm and inviting hue all the same. The nose is sweet and lifted - bourbon wood doing the job here. Jersey caramels, jaffa, orange zest, and cinnamon buns dominate. It's mellow and sweet on the palate - with great honey-roasted cashew flavours, orange cake and marzipan notes. It finishes remarkably long for a 40% whisky.

This was a surprise when it was released in 2018 as the distillery was closed from 1993 onwards and finally dismantled in the early 2000s. It was matured in refill American oak hogsheads and bottled at a cask strength 52.1% and the result is a lively vibrant expression with pastry, green apples and coconuts at the fore. Always a pleasure to sample  malt from a ghost distillery knowing that nothing quite like it will ever be produced again.

Nose
Rich and indulgent, with treacle, toffee, golden syrup, raisins, candied almonds and orange peel.

Taste
Thick, syrupy notes of banana, sultanas and malt loaf dunked in black tea, with a pleasing hint of blacked pepper.

Finish
Chai masala, cardamon and brown sugar.

The latest iteration of Benromach's cask strength offering - this one from a small selection of 48 casks and served at its natural cask strength. As the colour suggests - there's plenty of stewed fruit, citrus and Christmas spice flavours that intermingle nicely with just a lick of warming peat.

A 10 year old single malt from the Linkwood distillery, distilled in 2012 and bottled by James Eadie in 2023 with a stated age of 10 years old.
