This Aerstone 10 year old Land Cask Single Malt Whisky is produced by William Grant & Sons at the Ailsa Bay Distillery located on the Ayrshire coast of the Scottish Lowlands.
Unlike its whisky counterpart named Sea Cask, Land Cask is matured at a warehouse much further inland, and the use of Highland peat makes it a more sweet and smoky whisky.
Nose: Earthy peat smoke and vanilla pod, with a briney note, black pepper, smoked meats and burnt rubber, with just a touch of fresh fruity sweetness.
Palate: Balanced sweet and smoky notes, with aniseed, burnt brown sugar, charred oak and salted honeycomb. Then there's olive brine, barbecued citrus fruit and smoked meats.
Finish: Sweet and smoky battle it out on the finish, with vanilla fudge and peat smoke alongside dry, spicy oak.

Unit price perUsing the two Coffey stills at the Miyagikyo distillery, which were imported from Scotland to Japan in 1963, Nikka have produced a number of single cask single grain whiskies from time to time over the years. This, however, is their larger release of wonderfully exotic single grain whisky.
Nose: Bourbon-like vanilla and corn notes with a herbal hint of chamomile.
Palate: Sweet, fruity flavours of melon, grapefruit and thick syrup, balanced by crunchy biscuits and fresh vanilla.
Finish: The corn notes, sweet and vibrant, last on the finish.
Overall: Fans of grain whisky should be pretty happy with this, as well as bourbon lovers.

Unit price perProduced in collaboration between Whisky Galore and the Wills family of Kilchoman, we are proud to release this special single cask exclusive for New Zealand. Selected from cask #882, this whisky was matured for an initial 5 years in an ex-bourbon barrel, before being transferred for a secondary maturation (also known as a finish) in an ex-Marsala wine cask for over a year.
To start, the aroma carries sweet tones of juicy, oven-roasted fruits and charred caramel tart, with a sweet and sour fruit jelly. The peat smoke comes through dense and thick (especially with water added), reminiscent of a wood-fired BBQ on the sea shore, with grilled seafood skewers and a salty, coastal dryness. A lifting citrus note of home-made lemonade comes through in the finish, with the peat leaving a long-lasting, leaving a smouldering, earthen smokyness behind.
Scented with spices and honeyed plump fruits this is a syrupy dram, with lots of vanilla and fudge, with a whisper of smoke on the finish.
Nose: Creamy. Some sherried fruit with a trailing hint of smoke.
Palate: Sweet, malty, a gentle peat but nonetheless the mouthfeel is very clean.
Finish: Malt, a faint hint of citrus.

Unit price perThe yearly Diageo Special Releases always pack some surprises and it's fair to say an unpeated Caol Ila is probably one of them. This single malt Scotch promotes the distillery's lesser-known side as a sherry-forward Caol Ila that swaps smoke for elegant sweetness. It was matured for 15 years in refill and rejuvenated American-oak hogsheads and ex-bodega European oak butts before it was bottled at a cask strength 59.1% ABV.
Nose: Opens with marmalade-laden buttery toast, milk chocolate and fresh orange notes, before red cherry, strawberry and raisin comes through. Lashes of vanilla and a suggestion of spearmint, too.
Palate: Leads with more of that creamy chocolate, fruity yoghurt and honey. Peach is in there too, and in with all the oiliness is a pine-like quality.
Finish: Yoghurt-covered almonds with some liquorice and, yes, some distant smoke.
Overall: It's an viscous drop that packs a creamy-fruity punch.

Unit price perLocated on the Isle of Mull, the Tobermory distillery was founded in 1798. Renamed Ledaig in 1972 when it reopened after 42 years of closure, it was closed again in 1975 before reopening under the name Tobermory in 1989.
It produces two single malts, one unpeated, Tobermory, the other peaty (between 30 and 40 ppm of phenols), Ledaig. To develop the latter, the distillery obtains its barley from the Port Ellen malt house.
This version matured in Bordeaux wine barrels shows us a very gourmet side of this distillery, marked by notes of black fruits, ash and sweet spices.
Part of SV’s explorative trilogy of wine barrel-aged expressions.

Unit price perOf all the distilleries in Diageo's portfolio, Glen Spey is the third smallest and remains one of the most obscure. Virtually all of its output goes into blends, in particular, J&B (which at the time of writing is the sixth biggest whisky brand in the world). Douglas Laing have bottled this rarity from a single refill hogshead REF - DL13903. Aromas of nutmeg and cinnamon arrive with a citrus zest while the palate promises strawberry candy, spiced oak, coconut shavings and milk chocolate.
