Unit price perSituated at the foot of the Kintyre peninsula in the historic whisky producing region of Campbeltown, Glen Scotia has had a bit of a make-over of late with the release of three impressive new expressions. This particular release is fully matured in specially selected American oak barrels for 15 long years in their Campbeltown warehouses before bottling. Delicate apricot and vanilla aromas develop towards a zesty fruit salad and subtle coastal note. On the palate there are intricate hints of ginger and spice which are complimented by rich vanilla and fruity notes. Adding water brings out caramelised fruit elements with a slightly drying finish.

Unit price perBalvenie is the young, strident upstart compared to it's owner and next door neighbour Glenfiddich. The Balvenie team get to experiment a little with their whisky, using weird and wonderful types of wood and new strains of barley etc. The Balvenie Double Wood is their best, and No. 1 whisky.?It's a rich amber in the glass - not quite to the extent of Hugh Hefners velvet drapes - but a warm and inviting hue all the same. The nose is sweet and lifted - bourbon wood doing the job here. Jersey caramels, jaffa, orange zest, and cinnamon buns dominate. It's mellow and sweet on the palate - with great honey-roasted cashew flavours, orange cake and marzipan notes. It finishes remarkably long for a 40% whisky.

Unit price perArdbeg BizarreBQ Limited Edition is the Distillery's first ever barbecue-inspired whisky.
From the eccentric and experimental mind of Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Whisky
Creation, and in collaboration with grilling guru, Christian Stevenson (AKA DJ BBQ), this single malt was made to pack a meaty, peaty punch.
The same way it is with grilling, there's one vital element in creating the first BBQ-inspired malt fire. Toasting a selection of three casks, double charred oak casks, Pedro Ximenez sherry casks and BBQ casks, this combined recipe comes together to bring a sweet, tangy, smoky flavour perfect for BBQ!
Aroma - Puffs of charcoal and soot mingle with smoky wood and aromatic herbs and spices. Treacle toffee, hickory smoked ham and cinnamon-dusted espresso rise up.
A splash of water releases distinctively sharp citrus aromas, along with herbal notes such as fennel and aniseed. Grilled artichokes and a suggestion of seared meat sizzles the senses. The undeniable smell of bonfire and BBQ embers lingers in the background.
Taste - The mouthfeel is alive with spice, like BBQ ribs smothered in chilli. A myriad of deep, warming smoke follows close behind in flame-grilled steak, chilli oil, cured leather and clove. Ginger, aniseed and tar crackle on the palate with an aromatic woodsmoke edge.
Finish - The massive, hot aftertaste lingers on and on, with more grilled artichoke, black olives and a sooty note that slowly simmers away.

Unit price perThis version distilled on 15 August 1997 was first matured in a second-fill bourbon cask until December 2020, before being finished for one month in an Oloroso sherry cask. Its incredibly well-balanced and extremely serene palette of flavours and aromas wavers charismatically between a surprisingly youthful malty and herbaceous freshness and wonderfully mature notes of fruit and honey.
long, serene. At the start of the finish, fresh fruits (pear, white peach) pair perfectly with tertiary (moss, chestnut) and heady (iris, lily) flavours. The very end of the finish reveals vanilla and praline. On the retro-nasal olfaction, malted barley returns to centre-stage, while lime blossom honey, citrus fruit zest (mandarin) and roasted notes (coffee) gradually gain the upper hand

Unit price perA second addition to the INK #3 series marketed by French Retailer, Le Comptoir Irlandais is this toddler Blair Athol. While the distillery's production is primarily intended for Bell's, indies are on the rise. This one from Signatory Vintage was distilled in 2013 and filled into a rechar hogshead (a reconstituted & re-burnt cask). Akin to a malt-heavy blend, it's softer than usual for Blair Athol, offering vanilla and fruit salad on the nose as well as hints of beeswax. Likewise, the mouthfeel surprises: supple and slightly oily with flavours of barley cake, grain store and pineapple pudding, before wood spices rise in the medium long finish

Unit price perHighland Park Cask Strength Release No. 4 opens with enticing aromas of toasted coconut, driven by the ex-bourbon casks, along with crushed lemons and cedarwood; there’s a delightful hint of Turkish Delight in the aromatic peat smoke too, thanks to the influence of the ex-port casks. Intriguing flavours of zesty pink grapefruit and fragrant rose water emerge on the palate, expertly balanced by earthier suggestions of toasted oak and heather-rich peat, while the long finish reveals exotic sun-baked spices and a ribbon of liquorice running through the final breath of floral peat smoke.
