That little bit less alcohol makes a big difference... and here's a tasty example which is also dry in style with 5 grams residual sugar (that's natural sugar from the grapes, retained from stopping the fermentation early). 

Ripe powerful aromas of blackberries combine with black olives and spice in this great expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from South Australia. The wine is deep crimson with aromas of lifted berries, spicy oak and a medium body.

A keeper for at least a decade and also drinks well now, decanted for two to three hours and served in large glasses to accentuate its ripe dark fruity flavour spectrum.

Our Mackenzie William Riesling is named after our eldest grandson. Our Eden Valley Riesling is delicately picked from our longstanding vines planted in the 1960s, and 1980s, and from our cherished, deep-rooted 1890s vines – believed to be some of the oldest in Australia. Each batch of fruit bestows its unique attributes, creating quintessential Eden Valley citrus and minerally characteristics which our region is so well known for, and a complexity that ensures our dry style’s impressive length of finish.

The Cover Drive is named after the Penola cricket ground on the southern boundary of Coonawarra in South Australia. This famous cricket ground was retired in 1996 and Jim Barry bought the land to plant with grapes. This full bodied, dark and smooth red wine is the result. It's earthy, smooth and has complex flavours of black olives, dried herbs and bold blackcurrant notes. It drinks well when young and can also age for four to five years, evolving interesting savoury notes as it does. 

This is Yalumba's premium Viognier offering from their Rare & Fine Collection and shows all the hallmarks of classic Viognier; peach and citrus flavours bundled in an aromatic mouthful with that silky texture that the variety is so well known for. This wine is recognised as a benchmark for new world Viognier due to its stunning quality.

Rockford Wines is an icon itself and a relatively new one, established in 1971 by Robert O'Callaghan, who has forged a reputation for preserving winemaking tradition and saving many of the world's oldest grape vines from being pulled up in the Australian Government's vine pull schemes of the 1970s and 1980s.

The Rockford vintage shed houses equipment from 50 to 100 years ago, which was discarded by other wineries as modernisation took over. 

A fresh and floral aromatic white made from White Frontignac grapes. Keeping it at modest 9.3% ensures purity of the fruit and balanced with crunchy acidity. A pleasure on the senses and a perfect afternoon drop.

Pure Eden is a single site wine, made from an Eden Valley vineyard planted by Charles Angas in the 1890s. Later owned by the Shiltons 1911 -1926; Meakins 1926-1929; Roeslers 1929-1961; Andretzkes 1961-2011 and now the Lindner family. This wine is a reward of these guardians’ efforts for more than one hundred years.

An alluring bouquet of red and blue fruits leap from the glass with savoury herbs and hints of black olive, cedar, earthiness and white pepper. A medium to full-bodied wine with juicy Satsuma plum and raspberry fruits with plenty of velvety tannins adding structure and texture to the wine. Sweet and briary spices balance the juicy fruit with a subtle cedar note carrying through to the finish.

Winemaker Corey Ryan may be Australian born and bred but he has a strong Kiwi connection, having been chief winemaker at Villa Maria for about a decade, before returning home to the Barossa to make superlative wines such as this great spicy red. This brand is a collaboration between Ryan and Nicholas Crampton, who collectively aim to make great value wines that over deliver and shine a new light on classic styles. This 100% Shiraz and comes from a blend of two regions, 80% Langhorne Creek, south of Adelaide, and 20% Barossa Valley. It's bright, full bodied, dry and fruity with complexity coming from Shiraz' spicy notes. A fab Aussie red.

Hill & Valley is all about highlighting the ripe and balanced flavours of great wines, such as this full bodied red, from the warmth of the Barossa Valley in South Australia. Approachable, easy going and versatile, this wine has a nose of fresh, complex cassis and mint fruit flavours with some well integrated vanillin oak. The palate is full bodied with dense ripe cassis fruit flavours balanced with vanillin oak but yet long and smooth. This wine has the flavour, structure and balance to be enjoyed now but can benefit from further cellaring.

Coonawarra is one of Australia's famous Cabernet Sauvignon regions and home to 100% of the grapes used to make this full bodied, well structured, dry red, which is produced by winemaker Corey Ryan and Nicholas Crampton. Nero d'Avola is Sicily's most popular red grape (and the island's most planted one) and is characterised by flavours of ripe black plums, intense blue fruit and licorice like aromas. It is rare to find good Nero d’Avola elsewhere but this new Australian rendition is convincingly Mediterranean like in style. Full bodied, black in colour and beautifully complex in taste.
