Quaffable, rich Primitivo from the Puglia region in southern Italy. Ruby red with violet reflections in the glass. The nose is fruity and aromatic with strawberry, blackberry and raspberry notes. On the palate, berry flavours continue with some spicy heat. The finish is fruity, with complex liqourice and almond notes. Pair with roast meats or an aged cheese.

Umani Ronchi is an excellent Italian wine producer in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. It's a company that makes a wide range of wines, including this incredibly delicious Montepulciano, which massively over delivers in taste. 

Big, bold and deep in colour, it has powerful dark fruit flavours held together in a smooth full bodied style with spicy notes adding complexity. Medium acidity adds balance to the blend, making for a beautifully integrated wine which is stunning value for money.

Move aside, cheeky little anything red  fora bottle of this gorgeous French rouge from the Southern Rhone Valley. Its pretty purple colour gives way to a red fruited, lightly spicy tasting wine with smooth tannins, a medium body and a fresh finish. This wine is made by the Perrin Family, owners of Château de Beaucastel, which makes some of the greatest reds in the Rhone Valley. 

* This wine is made from a blend of grapes grown in the Southern Rhone Valley and it was formerly a Cotes du Ventoux but is now a blended rouge from a wider area. 

The star of the Médoc, Cabernet Sauvignon is given pride of place in this French expression of a classic left bank Bordeaux red blend. Its structured body provides a beautiful wintery night's red to enjoy by the fire with cheddar and great company.

Yalumba is a family owned and fiercely independent wine producer with roots back to 1849. This is their take on the classic Australian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

The Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from four vineyards in the Barossa Valley. The diversity of the vineyard selection provides the rich, lifted Cabernet Sauvignon aromatics and palate structure for which The Signature is renowned. The Shiraz comes from vineyards of varying age, with the oldest planted in 1925. These blocks are of sandy loam, featuring yellow sand and ochre clay over red clay. The combination of these Barossa Valley blocks provides a Shiraz with sweetness, fullness, depth and layers of complexity.

Matured for 19 months in 25% new French barriques and Hungarian hogsheads, balance in older French and Hungarian barriques and hogsheads.

California Zin is one of the most satisfying big dark reds on the planet and Sebastiani's is a great example. It's dry, it's full bodied, it's spicy and it's rich in taste. What more could you ask for?

Sebastiani is a winery in Sonoma, founded by Italian immigrant Samuele Sebastiani in 1895, making cobblestones for San Francisco streets to save the money to build a winery. which became highly successful and remained in family hands until 2008 when Californian wine lover Bill Foley bought it to add to his large portfolio of companies.

This is a great full bodied, dry red with power and complexity at an affordable price. Next level Zin, here we come. 

Priorat is one of Spain's most esteemed regions for red wine, alongside Rioja & Ribera del Duero, and the most famous region for Grenache in Spain. The Llicorella slate and huge diurnal shifts contribute to powerful and ageable wines!

Made from Carinena & Garnacha fermented on skins for 11-12 days in stainless steel tanks at 24 degrees celcius. 70% was aged in French oak Barriques (20% new), & 30% in 30 hectolitre French oak foudres. 

Salmos is the spanish name for Psalms & is a tribute to the Carthusian Monks who first planted vines in Priorat.

Schloss Leiser is a family owned winery in the village of Leiser on the Mosel River in Germany. This region is famous for its great whites made from Riesling, which is the most planted grape variety in this area and in Germany. The best wines are part of the German Pradikat wine system, a ranking of wine styles with defined criteria of grape ripeness at harvest. 

This wine is made from hand harvested grapes grown on the great Niederberg Vineyard, planted on south to south west facing slopes at elevations of 110 to 190 metres and steepness of up to 80%. Soils are blue Devonian slate and a plateau on the top of the hill of Neiderberg provides good water supply. Average vine age is 80 to 100 years old and some vines are ungrafted.

The residual sugar in this wine is 95 g/l and, with 7% ABV, this wine is balanced by high acidity, which contributes to its complexity, structure and depth. 

Niederberg is one of the Grand Cru vineyards of the Mosel and of Weingut Schloss Lieser.

This is a great Riesling made in small quantities and with meticulous hand work from harvesting the grapes to bottling this delicious wine.

If you fancy a smooth and very fruity red wine to enjoy with delicately flavoured food like pasta or white meat, Legaris Roble is the perfect red wine to choose.  This Ribera del Duero, made from 100% Tinta Fina (Tempranillo), also displays touches of vanilla from the time it spent in oak.  Pure fruit in your glass. Don't over-think, just relax and enjoy it, calmly.

Argentina does Malbec better than anyone on a mass scale, much of it due to the plentiful vineyards planted at altitude in the foothills of the Andes Mountains where sunshine enhances ripening and cool night temperatures elongate the ripening season to accentuate much needed acidity in this grape. These factors combine to provide growing conditions that are unmatched anywhere else in the world that Malbec is planted on a large scale. Wines like this one are testament to the dense fruit character, spicy notes and complexity of good Malbec, often at a relatively modest price.

We love this wine and it also carries organic certification, another thing the dry climate in Argentina allows for with relative ease, but that's another story.
