A blend of Italy’s most quintessential native red grape with Umbria’s own Sagrantino, the name of which is said to derive from its use in the holy sacrament. Religious history and folklore aside, Sagrantino is renowned for its big but supple tannins, while Antonelli is one of Umbria’s greatest estates, with origins going back to the Middle Ages.
Made of selected fruit from the oldest vines grown at 300-400 m a.s.l and aged for at least 18 months, with 6 in tonneau (15% new) and 12 in large format neutral oak. Ripe red cherries and berry fruit mingle with violets on the nose. Full bodied with distinctive minerality, racy acidity, and luscious tannins emerging on the finish. A powerful yet fabulously balanced wine to be enjoyed at the table with grilled, roasted, or braised meats as well as with hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano.

Unit price perMt Etna is Europe's largest active volcano and the inspiration for the artwork on the label of this funky new, savoury flavoured, silky textured red from Etna. It's pale in colour with huge structure and earthy aromas supported by red fruit notes from the Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Capuccio grapes; famous for being grown only on Mt Etna. This wine is a relative newcomer for the Piccini family, a Tuscan based wine family who now own a vineyard called Scalunera on Mt Etna.
From the sun baked slopes of Mount Etna and a joint venture between winemakers Gaja and Graci, this is 98% Nerello Mascalese, 2% Nerello Cappuccio which is vinified in a mixture of concrete and oak vats, with a three-week maceration followed by ageing for 24 months also in concrete and oak.
"Perfumed nose of red berries, spiced cherries, hazelnuts and smoke. Medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Balanced and round with a silky texture on the mid-palate and volume on the concentrated, long finish. It really grows on the palate. Better after 2024."
