ATA RANGI CELEBRE MARTINBOROUGH 16/18
Ata Rangi is Maori for dawn sky and is a name chosen by winery founder Clive Paton for the new beginning that his winery represented in his own life, in the late 1970s, in Martinborough. His aim was to make a top New Zealand red wine and he has since made several.
Celebre is a quirky Rhone-meets-Bordeaux blend of 51% Merlot, 28% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec and 4% Cabernet Franc.
It is dry, full bodied and incredibly age worthy, evolving nicely for up to a decade, but also drinking well now, thanks to the soft ripe fruit appeal of Merlot leading this blend.
