Black Cottage Rose is Dave Clouston?s brainchild and was inspired after long hot summers spent in Corsica and the south of France where he made, light bodied, dry and salmon pink wines from deeply coloured, thick skinned red grapes. These styles of wines are ideal for drinking chilled in summer, not only in the Meditteranean but also right here in New Zealand, which is home to this wine.
It's made from grapes grown in Marlborough's hot summer days, which are balanced by fresh acidity from the region's cool nights.
This is one of our best sellers and it's super easy to get hooked on its tasty summer berry flavours and dry style.

Unit price perThis is an outstanding new addition to the much loved Esk Valley stable and it successfully straddles the big buttery Chardonnay style with all the subtleties that wine fans adore about the Chardonnay grape too - namely, its crisp, freshness.
It is part of the new Esk Valley Artisanal Collection wines, which were launched this year and this one is made from clone 95 vines in Hawke’s Bay. The grapes were fermented in French oak with wild yeasts, which gives this wine its rich and nutty flavours, its seductive savoury notes and its full body.
The finished wine went through 50% malolactic fermentation with lees stirring to accentuate and lift the big flavours in this big wine.
$37.99
Unit price perElegant Chablis-like Chardonnay with creamy notes and balancing acidity due to the cool climate of Central Otago's Inlet Vineyard in Bannockburn. Grapes in this wine were picked in two lots with the first pressed directly to barrel and the second lot left overnight then whole bunch pressed to barrel where they were fermented with wild yeasts and stirred weekly to encourage flavour integration from lees (yeast cells from fermentation) contact. The wine was aged in French oak, just 16% of it new and then bottled unfined but filtered.

Unit price perSpicy Syrah with complex notes of cloves, black pepper and a note of cedar. This is a lovely medium bodied red made with grapes grown on the Woodthorpe Terraces and Bridge Pa Triangle. Grapes were all destemmed for fermentation and given extended maceration on skins before pressing into a combination of new and seasoned French oak for five months’ maturation. The wine was fined with egg whites before bottling and is dry, spicy and medium bodied.
Te Mata Estate is one of the pioneers of Syrah in New Zealand and one of Hawke's Bay's longest continually running wineries.

This is a new varietal for North Canterbury, which has shown promising results for this grape. The nose on this wine is rich with classic stone-fruit, spice and citrus notes. The palate is concentrated and juicy, with great acid brightness.

Unit price perThis wine is one of the country's best Pinot Noirs, having won an extremely long string of awards and accolades over the decades, which both winemakers, Clive Paton and Helen Masters, attribute to, among other things, 40% of the wine being made from the Abel clone of Pinot Noir. This clone was famously (true story) brought in via a gumboot from a grand cru vineyard in Burgundy, France; the traditional classic home to the Pinot grape.
Abel brings structure and intensity to Pinot Noir, as does the climate in the Wairarapa, which heavily reduces potential yields at flowering time in spring, resulting in smaller bunch architecture and more intense flavours as a direct result.
This wine drinks well now and undoubtedly has a long life ahead for those with wine cellars - and willpower.
A New Zealand classic - for good reason.
The name Ata Rangi is Maori for dawn sky and was chosen to portray the new beginning that the start of this winery represented for founder Clive Paton in the late 1970s.
$23.99
