Tasting Notes:

It presents a pale color and a captivating aromatic profile, marked by attractive citrus and orange blossom notes. On the palate, it is fresh and well-balanced, with well-integrated acidity and a persistent, harmonious finish.

About the producer:

In 1933, Clemente da Silva, recently arrived from Brazil, fulfilled his life-long dream of becoming a producer of premium wines that would lead to the international expansion of his business: C. da Silva – an abbreviation of his own name. A year later, he registered the Dalva brand, a contraction of “da Silva”. Simple to pronounce and very Portuguese, the brand achieved rapid success in its different markets.

A Duoro DOC wine combining Viosinho, Malvasia Fina & Codega grown on the slopes of the Tinhela & Corgo rivers in the Douro valley. The Douro Valley is characterised by very hot days & cool nights, high altitudes & deep schist soils which leads to red wines with robust tannin & fruit & white wines with poised acidity & lots of aroma.

The 2024 vintage:

A warm harvest year with average but irregular rainfall. A mild, rainy winter was followed by a similarly warm spring. The growing cycle was long, supported by sufficient soil moisture that allowed for normal vine growth and development. The typically hot, dry summer was followed by a harvest period marked by cooler temperatures in September and some rainfall in October. A year of above-average yields, with grapes in excellent phytosanitary condition and high quality potential.

Harvest & Vinification:

The grapes were carefully selected upon arrival at the winery, and fermentation took place at low temperatures (16ºC) to enhance the fresh, floral fermentation aromas.

Muros Antigos Escolha is made from a selection of three excellent white grape varieties: Alvarinho, Loureiro and Avesso. The grape variety Alvarinho cames from the sub-region of Monção and Melgaço. Due to the strategic location of the sub-region, there are ideal conditions for the perfect ripening of the grapes. The presence of Alvarinho in Muros Antigos Escolha provides structure and body. The Loureiro grape variety is located in our vineyards in the Lima sub-region with granitic soils, deep and poor in organic matter. Due to the Atlantic influence of this region, the freshness and salinity are well present as well as the floral perfume typical of the grape variety. Regarding Avesso grape variety from the in Baião region, in the border between the continental climate of the Douro Valley and the maritime influence of Douro Litoral. The soils are dry and poor, granitic sandy loam soils. These characteristics will produce a wine with an acidity and minerality unique, from which we single out a profound balance between acidity, minerality and alcohol content which will deeply improve Muros Antigos Escolha.

Vinification 

Handpicked grapes into small boxes and carried to the winery in a short period of time. Pressing of the whole de-stemmed grape. Cold clarification for 48-72h. Long fermentation at low temperatures of 12- 16ºC. Minimum 3 month ageing on fine lees with regular bâtonnage.

Tasting Notes 

Fruity aromas present, sweet citrus fruits like tangerine and green apple. On the palate, light and fresh, the acidity provides body and structure. The finish is long and persistent, conveying character.

Musar Jeune Rosé wines were first produced from low yielding Bekaa Valley and Byblos vines in 2006. Made from the fruit of younger vineyards at around 1,000 metres above sea level, these wines are bursting with fruit, unfettered by oak and made to the Hochar family’s unwavering philosophy of natural wine-making. 

A blend of 80% Cinsault from young vines in Byblos planted in 2018 and 20% Mourvèdre from 10-year-old vines in the Bekaa Valley. 

Region - Bekaa Valley and Mehrine near Byblos– all planted on calcareous soils. 

The Cinsault and Mourvèdre underwent direct pressing with a mixture of bleeding and were fermented in stainless steel vats with a temperature range between 18˚C and 21˚C. After the malolactic fermentation was complete, the wines were left to rest for 3 months, then cold stabilised and bottled during March 2023. 

Smoked salmon, flame, mandarin in colour with orange blossom, red cherry and raspberry scents on the nose.

Fresh and youthful with lower alcohol because of the young Cinsault vines from our new vineyards in the hills above Byblos, in Mehrine. Hints of peaches, mandarin and Lebanese spice sumac, and juicy red summer fruits that develop in the glass. 

Serve lightly chilled with Mediterranean and Lebanese dishes.

Spain's great offering to the world of sparkling wine is called Cava and it is made in the same way as champagne and this exceptional bubbly spends the same amount of time ageing in the bottle on yeast lees as most champagne. That long ageing process is 15 months and it results in a wine with fresh baked bread and yeasty aromas, which are tempered by citrusy freshness and depth of flavour from the complex combination of both. This makes it stunningly good value for money. 

The producer is Gonzales Byass, the largest sherry producer and owners of the great classic, Tio Pepe Fino. 

This bubbly comes from grapes grown on a vineyard planted in 1991 in Espiells, the highest, windiest area of the municipality of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. 250 metres above sea level. Bordered to the south by the Coastal Serralda and to the north by the Montserrat mountains, the vineyard benefits from an exceptional microclimate. The soil is alluvial and comprises three layers;; of clay and silt, pebbles and loose stones and fine sand that compacts down and is called “sauló”. Together, they produce a cava with very warm climate characters which are balanced by a touch of saltiness. The Parellada vineyard is located at 700 metres above sea level in the municipality of La Llacuna, considered to be one of the highest in Penedés.

From the long established Saura Brewery of the Miyagi prefecture comes this bottle of wonderful honjozo sake. 

Using specially cultivated yeast in the fermentation process, Saura Brewery ensures that their sake has a taste and fragrance that will continue to please. This fruity and smooth rice wine has a medium body, making it highly versatile when pairing with food. Best enjoyed chilled or warmed just above room temperature. 

15% ABV

Nigori-Sake is only lightly filtered and has a milky colour and texture. It's generally the sweetest of all kinds of Sake, with a fruity nose and a mild flavour. 

This japanese unfilted (Cloudy) sake. made purely with rice and koji, this subtly sweet and smooth junmai nigori sake is a velvety delight.

Before serving, the bottle should be shaken to obtain the full range of flavour and it is advised to be served well-chilled.

A delicious dry and savoury Chenin Blanc with crisp apply acidity and a full body, showing off the fleshy citrus and stone fruit flavours in this wine, which comes from South Africa - the world's headquarters of Chenin Blanc, in terms of volume of grapes planted. 

Chenin Blanc is the leading grape variety in South Africa and is made in a wide range of styles. This is one of the best and was made by A A Badenhorst in South Africa's Swartland region, where Chenin grows superbly well. With a smattering of Palomino, the grape typically used for sherry, this wine is deliciously dry and savoury with crisp apply acidity and a full body, showing off fleshy citrus and stone fruit flavours.

Soju is a clear colourless distilled spirit native to Korea, made from rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes or tapioca. It offers a lightly sweet, crisp and clean taste with a cool finish. Its special advantages are a lower calorie profile and a lower proof alcohol content. Soju delivers only about half the calories of ordinary vodka while delivering incomparable superior rich taste. As the leader in medium-level alcohol content spirits, soju can be enjoyed straight or it can lend itself as a perfect cocktail ingredient.

Pale, dry pink wines are all the rage right now from all over the world, and this Portuguese example is made from more than 10 different indigenous Portuguese and international grape varieties, including Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Touriga Nacional. Together these grapes provide complex red berry aromas with savoury notes of herbs and fresh lees influence from light aging prior to release. 

A great match with all seafood.

Aromatic and inviting, this flavourful Shiraz shows ripe black fruit, cassis and lovely spice on the palate. In a great drinking window with a nice balance betweeen some primary fruit, secondary aging charecteristics & plenty of Tertiary character. Very smooth Tannin's.

Method- De-stalked, crushed, pumped into stainless steel tanks, pumped over for 6 days, left for 2 days before pressing, racked to barrel for malolactic fermentation.
Wood Maturation 18 months in barrel, 35% new French and the balance in older barrels

Our Verdejo 100% signature wine is made from vineyards planted between 1962 and 1991.  These are family-owned and from selected old vineyards which allows us to blend the soil range complexity from the Appellation of Origin Rueda.

Vineyard: The soil, made up of round pebble layers, low in organic matter, develops some limestone outcrops on the higher levels. The local climate, continental with Atlantic influence, forces the vine roots to go deep in search of water.

Wine making process: Must ferments in stainless steel, concrete and older wooden vats. After fermentation, the wine rests on its lees for four months. This blend is what makes our wine José Pariente Verdejo unique.

Vintage: The year 2020 was defined by mild temperatures in winter and summer, without extreme temperatures and significant rainfalls in the spring. All these elements contributed to a slow and balanced ripering process. These conditions resulted into a vintage 2020 of great intensity and aromatic definition. Fresh fruit (remarkable citrus) and balsamic character (anise flavour and menthol) especially stand out.

Tasting: Brilliant straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. Complex, fresh, elegant and high intense aroma. It has a markedly fruity tone that spans the range of white fruits and citrus. There are also hints of fennel and garrigue on a balsamic aniseed ground. All of it over a mineral base.

On the palate: fresh fruity notes appear again. Unctuous and elegant, with a slight touch of bitterness at the end, typical of Verdejo, backed by a good acidity. Very good structure favours a lingering wine. Complex and intense aftertaste.

Food pairing: Suitable for appetizers, fish, seafood, pasta, rice and white meat. It also pairs well with smoked food, soft cheese and sausage specialties.

Chenin Blanc is the most popular grape in South Africa and it classically over delivers with great freshness and depth of flavour. Its naturally high acidity is softened in this wine with a rounded textural mouthfeel, citrus characters marrying harmoniously with ripe pears and stony, complex aromas that add interest.

Mullineux was established in 2007, when Chris and Andrea Mullineux settled in the Swartland wine region, 60 kilometers north of Cape Town. Within a very short time the winery established itself as one of South Africa’s most celebrated wine brands, both locally and on the international front. 

By 2020 the winery had received 30 five star ratings from Platter’s South African Wine Guide.
