NAME: Ophir Bridge constructed between 1879 and 1880, this
attractive structure is a characteristic example of Central Otago
suspension bridges with schist masonry towers. Crossing the
Manuherikia River west of the charming town of Ophir. The
name Ophir comes from the biblical place where King Solomon
took his gold, which harks back to this towns golden history.
VINEYARD: Located in the heart of the unforgiving mountainous
region of Alexandra, Central Otago. The cool climate and gently
sloping glacial moraine soils combine to deliver one of the best
vineyards in the world for growing Pinot Noir. Optimal
vineyard management and attention to detail allowed the
grapes to be harvested at a time when the flavour profiles were
at their maximum potential.
WINE: This wine exhibits a red/purple colour with a crimson
hue. The nose reveals cherry and summer berries. A hint of
leather with integrated oak and sweet vanillin adds depth and
complexity that entices you to savour this wine. The palate
shows a delicate elegance of black cherries and red berry fruit.
The tannins are supple and well-integrated, adding length and
supporting the palate.
The wine is instantly attractive and gratifying and complements
a wide range of foods including, cheese, pasta, grilled and
roasted meats, and vegetables.
