TE KAIRANGA JOHN MARTIN CHARDONNAY MARTINBOROUGH 18
John Martin is the top Chardonnay made at Te Kairanga Winery in Martinborough each year and is named after the late founder of the Martinborough township. This wine is made mostly Mendoza clone Chardonnay grapes, grown on the winery's Home Vineyard. All grapes are whole-bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeasts with 10 months maturation in French oak puncheons, which are 500 litre barrels. This wine goes through 100% malolactic fermentation, providing structure and length to what is a complex and refined wine.
The 2018 John Martin Chardonnay is a light straw colour. The bouquet shows integrated
roasted nuts, stone fruit, and saline depth. On the palate a full, firm-structured entry opens
to complex flavours of roasted nuts, baked bread, white peach, and a lingering finish.
