St.Bernardus Prior 8 is a traditional abbey ale brewed in the classic "Dubbel" style of Belgium's Best Abbey Ales. It has a ruby to purple color, smooth, creamy richness of texture that is almost oily, and a malt-fruit complexity reminiscent of coconut. (8% alc. vol.)

St-Louis Gueuze Fond Tradition is a pure traditional gueuze aimed at connoisseurs. It has the pure taste of a true gueuze based on a blend of young and old lambics. Fruity apple aromas stand out. When tasting, the slightly sour touches, characteristic of lambic beers, make their presence felt. It is very dry in the finish.

Idee Folle translates to ‘crazy idea’. This is an unusual blend of white wine grapes (Gros Manseng, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay) which has had an eau-de-vie added to halt fermentation, retaining the wine’s residual sugars.

Scapegrace Vodka is the first extension into a new category.

Using the same meticulous techniques, the Vodka characteristics come from a wheat based neutral grain spirit and artisanal waters. Purity is not born through triple distillation, more so the flavour comes from the honest approach.

INITIAL AROMA

Bright & pure with a hint of cereal to round off a somewhat clean & creamy aroma.

PALATE

Velvety texture, clean and balanced, initial push of dry wheat with apple, rolling into creaming soda finish. Small amount of heat.

FINISH

Final palate is viscous and creamy, rounded off with a pavlova like sweetness and rose like floral note. Slight acidity and balanced ABV helps to keep the length in the finish.

Dry, full bodied, iconoclastic Riesling from New Zealand's king of spatlese styles, Mat Donaldson and his winemaking team at Pegasus Bay Winery, which is New Zealand's greatest Riesling producer. 

This wine, Bel Canto, is the queen of the winery's Riesling range. It is bone dry with 5 grams per litre of residual sugar due to high brix (grape sugars) at harvest time and a small percentage of noble rot (also known as botrytis). It drinks well now and can age for the long term; up to and beyond 10 years. 

Extended hang time on the vines has resulted in the intensely ripe, tropical fruit flavours in the grapes which were picked to retain refreshing, high but balanced acidity. The free run juice was fermented slowly at cool temperatures to retain fruit characters and varietal purity. Alcoholic fermentation was left to continue until residual sugar of 5 g/l was achieved. Retention of a little of natural carbon dioxide gives spritz character to add liveliness and accentuate freshness.

Sirius White is a blend of Chardonnay with a touch of Viognier and Marsanne fermented with indigenous yeasts and bacteria and is certified organic and biodynamic.

Winemakers James and Annie Millton were the first in the country to produce a certified organic wine in 1984 and have since pioneered biodynamic grape growing and winemaking practices, along with retaining a strong loyalty to lesser known great grape varieties, such as Marsanne and Viognier, among many others. 

We love the wines from this iconic producer.

North End - We took our light, zesty, citrus and herb flavoured Farmhouse Ale Botanicole Grisette and reserved a portion so we could bottle it with Brettanomyces Claussenii; a formerly wild yeast that was originally discovered in the early 20th century.  Dry, fruity, and a just a little bit wild.

In the heart of the Bordeaux vineyard, Chateau Carbonneau is situated 20 kilometres from St Emilion and 35 kilometres from Bergerac. In a unique and idyllic setting, the chateau offers luxury accommodation and fine wines on the slopes of Pessac sur Dordogne.

Shortly after 1992, Wilfrid and Jacquie Franc de Ferriere inherited the property and began by replanting the vineyard with grape varieties typical of the Bordeaux region, especially Merlot which grows well on the slopes of Gensac. Thus began the revival of wine at Carbonneau. The Vineyard covers 15 hectares planted on the clay/limestone soils of the slopes of Gensac.

BZART KRIEKENLAMBIEK originates from the merger of two glorious traditions, i.e. the ‘Méthode Traditionnelle’ (traditional method) for sparkling wines and the spontaneous fermentation for Lambic beers. The result is a natural, sparkling cherry lambic of Belgian origin.

Its taste and aftertaste are quite “fraîcheur” (fresh). The nice almond flavours make you remember the real ‘kriekentaart’ (cherry pie) of the good old days. It is a delicious aperitif and perfect to pair with dark chocolate preparations, blue-veined cheese, duck, game and all preparations with almonds. Bzart Kriekenlambiek is mentioned on the menu of renowned restaurants.
