Unit price per"Andre Clouet Chalky" is characterized by prominent mineral notes, a salty quality, and a distinct "chalky" texture on the palate, highlighting the chalky soils of the Champagne region, with flavours often described as fresh apple, lemon, and a hint of sea spray, finishing with a long, mineral-driven aftertaste; essentially, a very focused expression of the region's terroir with a pronounced saline character
Chalk is the fundamental element of the Champagne terroir! The history of chalk goes back to the Jurassic era, 200 million years ago when the whole region was covered by the sea. Although poor in nutrients, chalk stores both warmth and water, releasing them regularly, providing the perfect foundation for Champagne vines. Draining off the excess, retaining water enriched by microscopic marine fossils, Chalk nourishes the vine with maternal affection, with minerality and an inimitable salinity ! Lastly, chalk is the protector of champagne as it ages, allowing itself to be dug into deep underground cellars, where the precious nectar can safely mature, tucked away from the light and fluctuations in temperature.
Classification AOC Champagne
Alcohol 12% Vol.

Aging 72 months on the lees
Southern Rhone white blends offer great value for money and this wine is no exception, thanks to the complexity that the grapes each bring to this fleshy ablend, made from 60% Clairette, 30% Viognier and 10% Grenache Blanc. Fermentation is in thermo-regulated stainless-steel vats and there is no malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged 6 months in stainless steel on lees before bottling. Very tasty, expressive white with flavours of ripe peach, a full body and lingering finish.

Unit price perSince planting their first vineyards in 1987, Jean and Catherine Montanet have been one of the main forces behind the revitalization of Vezelay as a wine region. Domaine Montanet-Thoden started as a “cave cooperative” but in 1999 Jean broke out of the cooperative and formed Domaine de la Cadette to create the best possible basis for making unvarnished wines that best reflect the terroir of Vezelay.
Today, the family runs three separate companies that produce wines according to the same basic principles (see also Domaine de la Cadette and La Soeur Cadette). Domaine Montanet-Thoden is owned by Catherine Montanet and Tom Thoden, but today the wines are made by his son Valentin, who continues the philosophy that was founded by his parents: organic work in the vineyards, minimal intervention in the cellar, zero fining or filtration and an absolute minimal addition of sulphur when bottling.
This is elegant and affordable Pinot Noir from northern Burgundy with a distinct mineral streak.

This is structured and very linear with superfine and polished tannins. It’s full-bodied yet reserved and held back with such tension and focus. Full-bodied, fine and chewy on the finish. Better in 2020.

A rocking wine from the northern Médoc is the 2015 Château Capbern and it’s 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot brought up in 60% new barrels. This medium to full-bodied, ripe, impressively concentrated beauty boasts outstanding notes of ripe black cherry and currant fruits intermixed with lots of crushed flower and damp earth/clay-like nuances. It has terrific purity and ripe, yet present, tannin and will benefit from a couple years in the cellar. It’s a little gem that will be loved by old-school Bordeaux lovers. Tasted twice.

What the critics say...
The 2019 La Gaffeliere has a wonderful bouquet of mineral-rich black and red fruit and sous-bois, a little tobacco and pencil box emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy and ripe. Perfectly balanced, leading to an almost Left Bank, graphite-tinged finish courtesy of the 40% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 continues the purple patch of this Saint-Emilion stalwart. No doubt a wine that will give 30 to 40 years of drinking pleasure. Drink 2025-2060.
96 points – Vinous
The 2019 La Gaffeliere wafts from the glass with a rich bouquet of blackberries and cherries mingled with subtle hints of burning embers and loamy soil that's framed by a deft application of creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, it's a concentrated, vibrant wine built around bright acids and fine, powdery tannins. Its vivid fruit tones and classical balance make this Cabernet Franc-rich blend a promising candidate for sustained bottle age. Anyone who has tasted the great wines this estate produced in the 1950s and 1960s knows how great this site can be; and with stricter selection as well as the elimination of fruit from vines growing on the plain from the blend, that potential appears to be being unleashed at last. Drink Date 2027 - 2057.

Unit price perSmooth, creamy and subtly nuanced with a savoury edge. This French Chardonnay comes from Saint Veran, which is the newest appellation in the Maconnaise, situated in the south of Burgundy, just north of Beaujolais. The warmer climate here and the chalky soils are considered ideal for producing high quality Chardonnay and the proof is in the bottle, as each creamy sip shows.
The appellation of Saint Veran was established as an AC in 1971.

Unit price perA delicious and quirky southern French red with a super smooth velvety mouthfeel. This wine is biodynamically certified and lives up to this noble credential. It's a blend of Braucol, Duras and Syrah blend with another couple of red French grapes thrown in for good measure. This wine is medium ruby in colour with soft and fleshy flavours mid palate followed by firm tannins on an impressively structured finish.
A lovely, deep and dark violet colour in the glass, this wine opens with mineral and smoke accented dark berries, liquorice and spicy black pepper on the deeply perfumed nose. The palate flows energetically with juicy cherry and blackcurrant flavours and more of the smoky minerality found on the nose which adds lift and depth. The finish is long with floral and tapenade pinned together with well defined ripe tannins.
Maturation - 16 months in oak barrels used for several earlier vintages

Unit price perA light, chillable red made from Nielluccio, a relative of Sangiovese that?s widely grown in the north of Corsica, with Merlot. Uncomplicated, fragrant and dry, Nielluccio brings the aromatics and character, Merlot brings it?s supple, round profile.
From the southern part of the island of Corsica, Casa Rossa produce wines from both local and international varieties. The vineyards are situated on clay-limestone soils. While Corsica is territorially French, it certainly has a strong identity of its own.

Unit price perThis is a bright purple-red Syrah. On the nose, aromas develop with finesse and complexity with notes of blackberry jam, liquorice, a hint of toast and spice. The palate is full and generous with notes of ripe fruit and a hint of smokiness. Tannins are dense and intense, but with great finesse, giving the wine excellent structure and a long finish.
Decant if drunk immediately. It may be cellared for 10 to 15 years.

Unit price perBrother and sister Pierre and Veronique took over the domain from their parents in 1993 and have carefully maximised the huge potential of the estate. Their wines are superb and constantly gain more and more recognition from discerning wine lovers and critics.
The vineyard has now more than doubled in size without diminishing the quality which is quite a rare achievement.
The Petit Closi Muscat sec is a white wine made from 50% Muscat petit grain and 50% Muscat of Alexandria.
The result is an aromatic and dry muscat that is a beautiful golden yellow colour in the glass and offers powerful but elegant flavours of apricot and melon with a honeyed finish.
