Jenny Dobson is one of New Zealand’s most respected pioneering winemakers with a long career working with prestigious wineries in New Zealand and abroad. Her international career began in Burgundy in 1979, where she worked with legendary winemaker Jacques Seysses at Domaine Dujac. Staying in France, she also worked with legendary wine expert Steven Spurrier in Paris, and also became Bordeaux's first female cellar master at Château Sénéjac.

Returning to New Zealand in 1996, she helped shape the Hawke’s Bay wine scene, working with wineries such as Sacred Hill and Te Awa, and consulting for numerous producers. In 2025, she was named a New Zealand Winegrowers Fellow and, in 2026, entered the Hawke’s Bay Wine Hall of Fame.

Now Jenny makes her own wines under the Wine by Jenny Dobson label. These beautifully crafted wines are named after her historical family members, and celebrate their individuality through exciting varieties spanning Fiano, Cab Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.
