Bouquet: Dark fruits, blackberries and plums. Notes of eucalyptus and menthol. 

Palate: Elegant and complex with ripe plums, blackcurrant and a touch of spice. Hints of clove and anise leading into fine tannins and a long, persistent finish.

Bouquet: Bright blackcurrants and blackberries with a touch of nettle and a hint of earthiness. 

Palate: Generous and robust. Ripe black fruits and subtle oak balanced with supple tannins and beautifully balanced acidity. 

About the winery...

Six generations have nurtured some of the most historic vineyards in Australia.
In 1839 William Formby arrived in Australia from the United Kingdom and it was in 1882, after four decades pioneering South Australia, he purchased the now historic Metala estate.

In 1891 William and his son, Arthur, planted 21 rows of Shiraz, and 14 rows of
what are now the oldest family-owned Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the world.
In 1894 a further 5.4 acres of Shiraz were planted. After almost five decades making Metala wine in a purpose-built winery on the estate, the winemaking was transferred to Arthur’s Brother-in-Law, at Stonyfell Cellars. The wines continued to be made here until management shifted to various holdings beginning with Dalgety Wine Estate in the early 1970’s.

In 1981, 5th Generation Guy Adams took over the management of the mixed farm estate. With a sincere appreciation and respect of viticulture and to family legacy, Guy, together with his wife Liz, began a 20-year long battle to return Metala to its original home. In 2022 the dream became a reality and Metala came home to Langhorne Creek and the family who planted and have nurtured the vines for more than 130 years.

Grenache was first planted by Villa Maria in 1996 on a small patch of ground on the Ngakirikiri Vineyard in Hawke’s Bay and used to make a reserve wine.

This new addition to Esk’s Artisanal range is made from those grapes. Smooth, soft red with more noticeable acidity than southern French Grenache. Very classic Grenache aromas of red fruit and a smooth texture with elegance and without any hint of new oak flavour or any oak influence.

Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon combine in this outstanding full bodied dry and powerful blend, which is made from hand picked grapes grown in the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing District’s Cornerstone and Ngakirikiri vineyards. 

The grapes were fermented with wild yeasts, which provides diverse depth and flavours to the wine, which has flavour notes of black olives, dried herbs and black currant notes. The wine was aged in French oak for 20 months and bottled unfiltered, which accentuates its gritty, smooth, powerful cedar notes.

5.3% - Czech Style Amber Lager

Looks like it’s your lucky day. Lucky Charm, polotmavé pivo, Czech style amber lager. A generous blend of Pilsner, Vienna, Munich and Midnight Wheat, balanced with Saaz and Celeia hops and fermented with a Czech yeast. The result is a superbly smooth lager, with restrained hop notes, soft, rounded malt mouthfeel with hints of caramel and fresh baked bread crust. Works like a charm.

For this beer we used Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, Citra and Galaxy hops.
Imagine a big juicy bowl of Kiwi Fruit, strawberry, blueberry,peach, orange and pear, jam it all in a blender and call it an IPA - it’s our hazy hop salad.

Swifty is named after the Swiftburn stream that flows through Royalburn Station in the South Island's high country, where our spray-free barley is grown. Brewed by the good folks at Garage Project, this is a Refreshing Beer. An uncomplicated, easy-drinking classic ale. You beauty.

A good watchdog is the perfect companion, a relaxed and friendly presence but always alert and attentive. It’s a rare mix of traits but our brewers have taught a similar trick to this Watchdog, a refreshingly non-alcoholic IPA, with a pale malt backbone and lively hop flavours of citrus and stonefruit, but no bite.

If spicy flavours rock your world, try this treacly, intensely luscious sweet sherry from one of the great producers in southern Spain - Lustau. This wine is made 100% from the Pedro Ximenez grape, also known as PX. It's a white grape, which is typically given long hang time on the vines followed by sun drying to create its intensely rich, sweet flavours, which come partially from the shrivelled well ripened grapes and partially from the production - this wine is fermented to a low level of alcohol and then fortified.

We love sweet sherry but it's not to be confused with the great, tangy dry sherries of the world, which are an entire delicious category in their own right. 

Savoury, structured and classically beautiful Bordeaux which drinks beautifully with complex black olive, dried herb and fragrant dark fruit flavours now; made from 48% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc. 

Chateau Magnol has 31 hectares of grapes in the Haut-Médoc, west of the city of Bordeaux and has gravel as well as sandy soils in its vineyards. It has gained the classification of Cru Bourgeois, which this commandingly impressive wine more than lives up to. 

Hennessy V.S. is a blend of around 40 different "eux-de-vie" selected for their vivacity from the best growing areas of the Cognac region.It has scents of oak and vanilla, hints of red berries followed by lighter notes of hazelnuts as well as floral notes.Can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks but it's also ideal mixed or in cocktails.;Source: www.hennessy.com

The Lasanta was extramatured in Spanish oloroso sherry casks following a minimum of ten years in ex-bourbon casks. In Gaelic, Lasanta means warmth and passion, and this refers to the key notes of toffee, raisins and walnuts. Upon further nosing and tasting, rich undertones of sultanas, oranges and chocolate emerge, with the dessert sherry wood showing its worth. 

Nose - Like the most delicious dessert menu imaginable, Lasanta taunts the senses with chocolate covered raisins, honeycomb and smooth caramel toffee. Citrus notes clear the way for the crispy burnt sugar and melting softness of creme brulee to be replaced by the rich aroma of rum and raisin ice cream

Palate - The full, sweet flavour typical of Spanish sherry with sultanas, orange segments, walnuts and butter toffee. The bite of hazelnut tasted through a chocolate coating, spice notes and hints of leather add the overwhelming sense of richness
