ABSOLUT VODKA was first launched in New York in 1979. It soon became the talk of the town, the US and eventually of the world. But the recipe behind the pure and natural taste of ABSOLUT is actually older than 30years. So is the 18th-century medicine flask found in an antique store in Stockholm that gave inspiration to the iconic ABSOLUT VODKA bottle.

Mitchell's Glengyle Ltd.  are very proud to be continuing and adding to the great Campbelltown Distilling tradition and the choice of name reflects that.  Kilkerran is derived from the Gaelic 'Ceann Loch Cille Chaiarain' which is the name of the original settlement where Saint Kieran had his religious cell and Campbeltown now stands. 

Nose: oak notes are dominant, followed by toasted marshmallows and dried fruit pudding, as well as cherries, marzipan and a hint of peat

Palate: initially fruity with citrus notes and orange peel, after this: vanilla, butterscotch,
honeycomb and digestive biscuits can all be tasted and enjoyed

Finish: velvet and smooth with lemon meringue, to conclude, there’s an oiliness and a saltiness that you’d expect from a Campbeltown dram

Garibaldi Dolce is a sweet, fortified wine is made from grapes grown in the western part of Sicily. This wine spends two years minimum in wooden casks, which lends complexity and depth. The palate offers notes of vanilla, caramel, dried fruit and figs.

This crème de cassis uses the prestigious “Noir de Bourgogne” variety of blackcurrant which is only grown in the Côte d'Or region in Burgundy. The fruit is macerated in a water-alcohol solution for around 10 weeks to extract the optimum flavour and aromatic intensity.

Salvage yards were walked in search of heritage coloured glass to inspire the evocative deep green colour of the stunning bottle design that houses the new Strange Nature Gin, which was launched in October 2021 by Giesen Wines. 

This gin contains only one botanical, juniper, for which classic traditional gins are best known but it also has another familiar flavour to New Zealanders - Sauvignon Blanc. 

This gin is made from the alcohol removed from Giesen Wines' 0% alcohol Sauvignon Blanc. It is twice distilled and, while it has the hallmark aromatic flavour notes of Sauvignon, this is a classic style of gin with distinctive peppery juniper aromas. 

“The Sauvignon Blanc spirit tastes so extraordinary we didn’t want to disguise it,” says Kyle Skene, distiller and Giesen Group general manager, who spent 18 months trialling and refining Strange Nature Gin, prior to its launch.

The Reid Malt is a rich, full-bodied vodka; handmade, traditional. Crafted from three ingredients, malted barley, water and yeast. On the nose; notes of banoffee- biscuit from the malt, banana from the distinct long fermentation.

The transparent seal on their bottles is made from environmentally friendly, compostable cellulose. The bottles themselves and label paper are made by long established European manufacturers under EU environmental regulations.

London Dry

Historically, the term London Dry relates to the production methods. This dictates that the Gin must be made from pure 96% ABV neutral spirit of agricultural origin, all botanical flavour must be imparted through distillation and nothing can be added after, the Gin must be dry. While their Gins adhere to the law governing this term, they are a modern, unconventional interpretation of the classical style.

Tasting note: A bold and aromatic Gin containing 10 Organic botanicals, of which 9 are from Hawke’s Bay. Batch distilled in our 150L Arnold Holstein still and cut to strength with Kaweka spring water. Top notes of citrus and juniper. Angelica root and Kaffir lime bring floral hints and complex herbal notes.
