The Sawmill Aotearoa series is about celebrating the best of New Zealand! 

This month we teamed up with Brave Brewing Co to celebrate what they do best - bold brilliant IPAs. It’s a meeting of minds, brewed with respect and a whole lot of hops. 

NZH-106, Nelson Sauvin and Kohatu hops give this IPA passionfruit, tropical and a winey aroma. A clean, crisp flavour with a full-bodied fruity finish. 

Here’s to New Zealand brewers, standing behind every good beer.

Yes, you love her. But oh boy can she be difficult. But then again did you want her to be the boring mass produced lager type, the vanilla of girl friends? Of course not. 

Brewed with coffee from Colombia and Indonesia. Matured on Ceylon Cinnamon sticks, vanilla beans. Lactose is added to give a soft and round body.

Salted Caramel Stout 6% - 440ml Can

Rich, creamy and velvety with layered notes of caramel, coffee and roasted malts balanced by a delicate saline edge that lingers on the finish. Decadent yet well-rounded and full-bodied from the addition of oats to the grain bill, this beer is full-flavoured and delicious - the perfect mid-winter treat.

Apple and Feijoa just go together. Sweet, tart and juicy with impeccable good taste.
Add a sprinkle of brown sugar, a dash of cinnamon and a few drops of vanilla balanced by a biscuity malt base and you’ve got this fruity and delicious dessert-style sour beer.

The Pastry Train has arrived at its final destination. The final stop is in the Bordeaux region, home of the famous French pastry Canelé de Bordeaux. The pastry is a kind of ribbed cylindrical caramelized cake in which vanilla and rum are processed.

This Pastry Stout is an ode to this classic French pastry, a full sweet taste with rum and vanilla. Bon Appetit!

Red ale with exceptional notes of bread, caramel, and biscuit. Well balanced with a light bitterness on the finish. Joaquin Dead walks the line.

Turbodog is a dark brown ale brewed with pale, caramel, and chocolate malts and Willamette hops. This combination gives Turbodog its rich body and color and a sweet chocolate, toffee-like flavor. Turbodog began as a specialty ale, but has gained a huge, loyal following and has become one of our flagship brews. This ale pairs well with most meats and is great served with hamburgers or sausages. It is a good match with smoked fish and can even stand up to wild-game dishes. Turbodog is also great for marinating and braising meats and cooking such things as cabbage and greens. Colby, Gloucester, Cheddar and blue cheeses go nicely with Turbodog. It’s perfect with spicy Louisiana jambalaya or Spanish paella. Some even like it paired with chocolate!

5.2% - NZ Stout

Back in black. Iron Pig, New Zealand stout. Brewed using only the finest Canterbury malt and specially roasted barley, balanced with a shot of old school Green Bullet hops. Rich, satisfying, full flavoured stout with underlying notes of chocolate, coffee and toasted nuts. An instant classic.

Tasting Note: On the palate, Magical Unicorn offers an intricate tapestry of flavors. Tropical fruits dominate, with mango and melon taking center stage, complemented by hints of peach and blueberry. The malt backbone provides just enough sweetness to support the fruitiness, while the bitterness is clean and crisp, coming through with an assertive citrus and pine note that adds depth and balance. The finish is dry and remarkably clean, with a lingering bitterness that beckons the next sip.

A long white cloud of fresh flavours 'It's Kiwi as'. This massively hoppy aromatic pale ale, contains deliciously local hops for a kiwi version of the ever popular IPA. It is also quenchingly bitter, while still having great balance and mouthfeel.

4.7% - Our Mango & Jalapeño Salsa Sour is a bold burst of tropical sunshine with a spicy green twist. Juicy mango lays down lush, fruity layers while a trio of jalapeño, cucumber & lime adds a crisp, complex green heat that lingers just right. Its tangy profile elevates the interplay of fruit & spice into something effortlessly drinkable yet richly nuanced.
