Traditional vinification is carried out in cement vats. Vatting lasts for between 20 and 30 days, depending on the vintage and, after the malolactic fermentation, the wines go into barrel (one-third renewed every year) and remain there for 12 months. The final selection of which wines will go to make the final blend for Château Angludet is made in the following February or March. The process of selection is strict (as only the best wines can be included) and is done by a series of tastings. Once the final blend has been done, the wine is fined with egg whites and very lightly filtered before bottling. Drink 2023-2035.

Savoury, structured and classically beautiful Bordeaux which drinks beautifully with complex black olive, dried herb and fragrant dark fruit flavours now; made from 48% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc. 

Chateau Magnol has 31 hectares of grapes in the Haut-Médoc, west of the city of Bordeaux and has gravel as well as sandy soils in its vineyards. It has gained the classification of Cru Bourgeois, which this commandingly impressive wine more than lives up to. 

The Rasteau Cru lies in the heart of the Côtes du Rhône region. The vineyards are bathed in morning sun; sheltered by the Dentelles and have a mainly northerly aspect. The soils are dominated by clay and limestone, with cobbles on the surface, which retain heat and create drainage. Wine has been made here since Roman times, and the region is famous for its fortified, sweet Vin Doux Naturels. Dry red wines have been included under the Cru appellation since 2010. Grapes mature more slowly, and the harvest is later than other appellations; the extra time being highly suited to the region's dominant variety of Grenache Noir. 

This wine is a blend of Grenache with a small proportion of aromatic Syrah and Mourvèdre fermented in traditional concrete vats. The wine is matured for 12 months in the same concrete vats before release in the regulation appellation bottle.

Tasting notes

This wine manages to be serious, as you would expect from a Cru Rhône, but with a freshness and precision that really lifts it. All liquorice, garrigue, and spice, wrapped around a vibrant red and black fruit core.

With scents of peonies, raspberry and kirsch, the Saint-Amour is a refined and voluptuous wine. With a seductive shiny ruby red robe, this elegant and tender wine is very enjoyable. Wine-maker notes.

Bourgogne Aligoté is a dry wine, with a good acidity and a medium strength. Maturing is mostly done in tanks during 12 months, to promote freshness and ses notes fruitées.
Usually, Bourgogne Aligoté is an early wine but coming from Domaine Pierre MOREY, it can be kept for many years !

Direct and impressive acid-cherry nose. Nice in the mouth, a little structural too – the flavour a bit disassociated after filtering. The finish is excellent though – wide, long and persistent. This will be super – probably excellent!

The 2018 Château de Pez Saint-Estèphe is a structured, medium-to-full-bodied Bordeaux red blend (49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot). It offers an expressive nose of morello cherry, tobacco, and licorice, backed by a complex, silky palate of fresh blackcurrant, violet, and thyme

60% Grenache, 40% Syrah.

Ripe aromas of poached pear and apple compote are laced with hints of iodine, lemon rind and a whiff of brine. The succulent, round and sappy middle weight flavours display notably better than average persistence on the citrusy, clean and nicely dry finale. This punches above its weight and is worth a look. 89-91 Allen Meadows, Burghound.

There is a whiff of the exotic that includes lychee and passion fruit on the layered nose laced with iodine, seaweed, floral and lemongrass wisps. The exceptionally rich, even opulent, medium-bodied flavours manage to be at once generous yet refined, all wrapped in a clean, dry and youthfully austere finale. This is an interesting wine as the mid-palate is quite open and lush while the finish is fairly tightly wound. Worth checking out as this should drink well both young and with up to a decade of keeping. Outstanding.

There is sufficient reduction to overshadow everything but a subtle floral nuance. On the palate though there is both good freshness and verve to the pretty and delicious middle weight flavours that exude a bracing salinity on the balanced, clean and dry citrus-tinged finale. This could use better depth so a few years of keeping are in order. 88-91 Burghound (2024)

A juicy, structured yet fine boned Sylvaner that cleanses and engages the palate with notes of fresh grass, lemon zest and fine herbs. A certain stoniness enhances the cleansing, tonic qualities. From old vines in the historic Clos des Capucines.
