Imperial Nibs Coconut Porter is a Double-Trophy Winner, taking home the 2016 NW Beer and Cider Awards and UK Beer Cup. Rich with roast-malt character and intense chewy flavours of bitter chocolate, freshly toasted coconut, burnt toffee, and mellow maltiness. Serve cool but not chilled in a glass for the ideal taste experience.

For Great Justice is a delicious, smooth brown porter made with all NZ malt and hops. Biscuit, brown, and chocolate malts meld beautifully with freshly toasted coconut. Serve cool but not chilled to allow the coconut to shine through.

New England Style Birch Beer is a classic New England style soda that is very similar to American Root Beer. This sweet fizzy soft drink is strongly flavoured with wintergreen and star anise, malt, and a variety of traditional sugars.

Roundest Boi Hazy IPA is lush and rich in the mouth with tropical fruit character from our choice of Amarillo, Wai-iti and Kohatu hops during dry-hopping along with those same hops added late in the boil. This thick and hazy beer is bursting with flavour and is perfect for the BBQ or a dinner party.

4.5% ABV. 

This new soda is fiery and refreshing and perfect for enjoying on its own, over ice, mixology, or for cooking.

A delightful, aromatic gluten-free American Pale Ale. Made with sorghum, millet, rice, and a mix of US and NZ hops. Apex Hoppy Gluten-Free APA is clean, amber in colour and layered with malty, biscuit flavours and medium body.

5.8% ABV.

A Vienna lager has a complex balance of well-rounded maltiness & gentle hop bitterness with a crisp dry finish with hints of sweetness. Maidstone Lager is our light & refreshing interpretation of this European style.

5.0% ABV.

A truly amazing barrel-aged beer. This dark amber beer has a subdued whisky and hop aroma with hints of oak, truffle, sweet chocolate and almond macaroon on the nose with flavours figs, cherries and dry sherry followed by a soft alcohol warmth, mild bitterness with lingering hints of vanilla and chocolate from the oak and malts.

10% ABV.

This restorative, unfiltered, and mildly-hopped ordinary bitter is our take on a classic British pale ale. Built on a foundation of NZ grown ale and specialty malts, this beer is biscuity, malty, and balanced with NZ Goldings used for bittering and dry-hopping

This beer pairs beautifully with a variety of foods as well as being ideal as a pallet clearer at whisky tastings. It is unassuming, yet both refreshing and flavoursome. It is also great on handpull for a classic English-style serving. We?ll leave it to you to decide if it?s best with or without a sparkler for extra creaminess.

 3.8% ABV.

A dark amber beer which is rich, toasty, nutty, and smooth with notes of dried fruits, and aged for more than 12 months in whisky casks that held very special NZ single malt whisky for more than 20 years.

11.1% ABV.

Kereru - This smooth, malty scotch ale has been aged for 10 months in French oak red wine barrels that previously held New Zealand whisky Co.  Single malt for more than 20 years.

10% ABV.

A golden, gluten-free ale made with sorghum, rice, and New Zealand Goldings hops, Auro Gluten-Free Ale is clean, very clear, light and refreshing, with full malty flavour and body.

Brewer's Notes

We really care about our beer and making the best quality beer possible. Auro Gluten-Free Ale is no exception and is made under HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points). It has 4 stages where we check for the absence of gluten in the beer - in the kettle, in the fermenter, post filtration, and in package. We use an industry accepted method for testing for the presence of gluten (gliadin and hordein proteins) which has an incredibly low threshold of detection of 1PPM (which is well below the accepted minimum detection level of 3PPM). Food Standards Austalia New Zealand specifies that a product may only be called Gluten-Free if there is no gluten detected and considers a result of less than 3PPM as suitable for calling "Gluten-Free". We test ourselves at a far more stringent level of testing than is applied in the US, EU, UK, Australia or New Zealand. We are confident that we are achieving this result and would not release the beer if it tested otherwise. We produce other products which do contain gluten and have a very rigorous cleaning schedule which we follow prior to making our gluten-free beer. Breweries are typically kept to a very high standard of cleanliness, but there are problem points which we have identified on our brewhouse where proteins can build up as staining or deposits. To address this we perform a second level of cleaning beyond our usual caustic-based standard cleaning procedures with an intensive renovation cleaning procedure prior to making Auro. To do this we strip off key fittings from the brewhouse and manually clean the problem areas and visually inspect all surfaces to make sure they are not stained with deposits, and then use a hot-acid detergent wash of all the food contact surfaces in our kettle, heat exchanger, and transfer hose.

Originally these American oak casks held American bourbon from J. T. S. Brown and Sons (now Heaven Hill) and were coopered in the early 1960?s. The resulting beer is deep, dark, and intense in flavour with notes of oak, roasted barley, black malts, vanilla, and whisky.
There were a very limited number of NZ Whiskey Co. barrels, and we can coax the whiskey character out of a barrel and into a beer only once. After that, the barrel may offer oak flavour, but the whiskey character is essentially lost. Each bottle is hand numbered. The 2017 release is sold out. Annual releases are planned for 2018 ? 2021 and supply is very limited.

Count yourself fortunate if you are lucky enough to get your hands on some of these bottles. It is a unique experience which can?t be repeated and the beer will age gracefully for years. We expect the sweet spot to be around 3-5 years. Do not serve cold! Treat it like a port or red wine and serve it in an elegant glass.

Pie In The Sky Truffled NZ Whisky Barrel-Aged Barleywine was aged for 14 months in NZ Whisky Co casks. This dark amber beer presents a glorious harmony of black truffles and single malt whisky with notes of sherried walnuts, milk chocolate, dry spices and Christmas cake, with a lingering red wine finish.

These beers will age gracefully for many years, but are fabulous right now. Do not serve cold! Treat it like you would a port or red wine and serve it in an elegant glass. Enjoy it in your bubble for any reason to celebrate.
