We of course now know it as a delicious culinary ingredient with many positive health benefits. Imagination is stoked to be able to gather wild wakame for this gin from the coast of Wellington and Wairarapa.

The initial aroma is juniper forward, fresh and sweet. When tasted you get the refreshingness of the citrus before fading to reveal the juniper in the background. A noticeable sweetness appears giving way to a sweet salt finish. A classic dry gin with a contemporary twist, transporting you to New Zealand's fresh and invigorating coastal waters.

Juniper and Coriander are macerated in our base spirit before final infusion with Bay Leaf and Lemon to create The Bay Gin. Complex and herbal with a bright citrus finish. Rifters Gin is bottled by Arrowtown Distillery in Wakatipu Basin, a historic gold mining town. A "Rifter" is similar to a fossicker or forager from the early gold mining era.

Created in honour of Reefton legend little Biddy, a pipe-smoking, gin-toting, 4 foot tall gold prospector.  Our search for native botanicals takes us deep into the same West Coast rainforest where Biddy once fossicked for gold, to craft a uniquely New Zealand selection of small batch distilled gins with attitude.
