Winemaker Rudi Bauer uses winemaking techniques very much in keeping with the practices of the Old World, with an obvious nod to Pinot's spiritual home in Burgundy.

The results are a deep, warm wine with inviting perfumed ripe pinot aromatics, both stylish and emotional. The palate is vibrant and lively with great body and spicy minerality that holds defined tannins of Bendigo intensity.

Hand harvested grapes were whole bunch pressed and treated to a long, slow fermentation followed by nine months of lees aging, which adds weight, texture and interesting savoury flavour notes to this medium bodied, dry Sauvignon Blanc. This wine ticks all the boxes; with its concentrated flavours, dry style, the integrity of 100% hand harvested grapes which are certified organic.

Churton founder and winemaker Sam Weaver cut his teeth on the classic wines of the world while working in fine wine retail in the United Kingdom. His background is in microbiology and he was raised on a farm, so when he and his wife Mandy founded Churton Estate, it combined all of his passions. The couple and their adult sons, have created one of this country's most high quality small wineries, which lives up to the dream of creating 100% estate grown grapes, 100% certified organic production and 100% bottled on site, nearly all of the wines without fining or filtration. All grapes are hand picked and natural yeasts ferment the majority of Churton wines. These incremental qualitative decisions impact at every step of their winemaking provides exceptional quality grapes which in turn express themselves in outstanding wines.

Fromm Vineyard Syrah is grown solely at Fromm’s Home Vineyard in the Wairau Valley, which is certified organic with BioGro NZ. 

This is an intensely flavoursome Syrah with dark, delicious black fruit flavours and complex earthy notes of cedar, toasted spice and notes of oak. Winemaker Hatsch Kalberer blends three per cent of the white grape, Viognier, into this full bodied wine, to add depth and fleshy appeal. He suggests this wine has at least five years’ of aging potential up its sleeve so it can be enjoyed now and cellared. Buy two bottles to do both. 

Located on the north facing slopes of the Brancott Valley, Clayvin Vineyard takes its unique name from the clay based soil profile that lies beneath the vineyard. The complex clay profile varies across the vineyard, allowing a number of different varieties to be grown, including Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The clay soil gives our Clayvin Pinot Noirs richness and generosity and an immediately appealing soft texture.

High density planting allows for very low yields per vine. Low yielding vines tend to produce wines of great concentration and richness.

This vineyard consistently produces grapes of outstanding quality.

Fantastic value for money, dry and flinty with brief lees maturation adding depth, which balances the fresh acidity in this zesty little wine. It was fined once and lightly filtered before bottling.  

Clos Henri began 22 years ago in Marlborough when the French Bourgeois family expanded their winemaking from the heart of Sancerre in the tiny village of Chavignol to Blenheim, in 2001. Now that their vines are 22 years of age , the family feels that they are only now starting to reflect and express the taste of the land. This family retains their land and winemaking in Chavignol where they have made wine for 11 generations.

The Domaine des Espiers is located in the heart of Vaucluse, between the banks of the Ouvèze and Dentelles de Montmirail. This is an excellent value Cote du Rhone with smooth tannins, warm berry fruit flavours and a medium body. 

Fruit aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherries and plums unfold from the glass, combined with hints of dried herbs. The palate is very complex and enticing with a beautiful, smooth texture and a firm structure. Flavours of very ripe fruit, minerals, subtle leafiness and rosewood. The supporting role of the oak intensifies underlying dark chocolate and toasty characters.

The first thing you will notice is the intense aroma of this wine with notes of citrus and tropical fruits. These flavours follow through on the palate, where the wild fermentation in barrel adds great weight and texture to the wine.

The l’Ancestrale is a natural sparkling wine made in the pétillant style. The fermentation starts in tank and the wine is then bottled while still fermenting (at around 18-20 grams sugar) and then finishes in the bottle without the addition of any sugar and using only the natural yeasts. Generous citrus notes, subtle hints of toasted almonds. Mineral and complex with a persistent foam.

This certified organic French dry white is a field blend of Riesling, Sylvaner and Pinot Blanc, made from biodynamically grown grapes from the talented hand of Marcel Deiss. one of Alsace's most talented and ground breaking winemakers. 

Domaine Marcel Deiss is located in Bergheim, a small village nestling in the heart of the wine region of Alsace, equal distance from the northern and southern boundaries of the region. The current winemaker is Jean-Michel Deiss, who was born into a long-established family of wine growers, living at Bergheim since 1744.

Today he manages the domaine, which consists of 26 hectares (52 acres) of hillside vineyards spread over nine communes and approximately 20 kilometres.

The wines of Domaine Marcel Deiss have cult status with wine collectors and drinkers alike so we are thrilled to have a wide range of them back in store, only they are in limited supply, so if you're a fan or a curious newcomer, get in quick. 

Full bodied, full of flavour and full of integrity, Clayvin Pinot Noir is made from one of New Zealand's most outstanding vineyard sites, planted in 1993 by Mike Eaton and now owned by the Giesen Group. All grapes in this wine were hand picked, fermented with wild yeasts and the wine was aged in French oak. It is a complex dark Pinot Noir with weight and structure to improve for seven to eight years, potentially longer, evolving into a wine with even more depth of flavour. 

The Clayvin vineyard was planted in 1993 in Blenheim's highly regarded Southern Valleys, becoming the area's first hillside vineyard. It has since become fully certified organic and is being progressively farmed as a biodynamic site - next level to organic certification. It is now owned by Giesen Wines and is home to three grape varieties; predominantly Pinot Noir with smaller amounts of Chardonnay.

The Blanc is pale yellow in colour, with green highlights. The bouquet is strong and characterful, with aromas of broom flower, citrus fruit, peaches, and apricots. The wine is elegant, delicate and quite vivacious on the palate.

Grape 80% Semillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc

80 % Grenache and 20% Syrah. Nice freshness in the nose with herbal and wild blackberry notes. The palate is fruity and spicy with wild raspberry, rosemary and thyme notes. This is a balanced, well-structured and mineral Rhone red.

From Quartz Reef’s Bendigo Estate vineyard which is BioGro certified organic and Demeter certified biodynamic. Deep ruby-red in colour exhibiting spiced wild berries. Opulent and rich on the palate with notes of dark cherry, blackberry and liquorice. Silky tannins with a muscular structure and impressive length.

Luscious, deep-fruit aromas of red cherries and raspberries rise from the glass. The palate is crisply layered and mouth filling with fine tannins. Ripe red fruit obtains complexity from hints of spicy characters, tea leaf and earth. The texture has sophistication and elegance, being sumptuous and refreshing at the same time.
