Time tested tradition, spiced with a dash of innovation, this is the process we followed in making AMRUT INTERMEDIATE SHERRY CASK SINGLE MALT. Newly made spirit, matured in the traditional way in virgin / ex-bourbon casks and is transferred into Spanish ex-oloroso sherry butts wherein it matures for a year more, gaining an added sherry finish. The finishing touch is thus lent by a further period of maturation in ex-bourbon casks. Result: an essay in elegance with subdued sherry notes that bears the tell-tale Amrut Signature of quality and innovation. A worthy successor to the much-acclaimed Amrut Fusion and Amrut Double Cask.

Nose : Instead of the usual biscuit aroma, we now get moist cake. And my word: is it fruity and spicy!! Love the freshly waxed oak floor, too. Brain-explodingly complex and multi-layered with one of the most intriguing sherry-style-bourbon-style marriages on the market;

Taste : Cracking delivery and entirely unique in form. The structure is decidedly oak-based, but acts as no more than a skeleton from which the juicy sultana and spices drape. Salivating, too, as the barley kicks in powerfully. But the liquorice-orangey-honeycomb bourbon theme quietly shapes the flavour profile; the spices pulse and glow;

Finish : Quite a chunk of natural caramel quietens the more exuberant characteristics; long and elegant.

This intriguing whisky is aged in sherry casks which have been infused with orange peel and wine for 3 years before being emptied and refilled with the unfinished Amrut spirit. This creates an unusual yet delicious whisky with a strong but balanced orange presence.

Prepare to snatch the cloak from our latest  limited edition and reveal to the world the  palate-provoking, taste-tantalising, whisky wonder that is Ardbeg Spectacular.  A first for Ardbeg, this whisky has been  matured in highly sought-after port wine casks, then married with classic bourbon barrels creating an extraordinarily smoky and balanced Ardbeg dram that imparts all  manner of peculiar notes and aromas. This is  devilish sweet meets smoky peat!

Tasting Notes: Smoky pear crumble and cooling  menthol twist into notes of incense candles, perfumed  lavender and antique leather.

The 18-year-old is limited to 1,500 bottles in the first release, and presents a nose of toffee, marshmallow and spices. It is comparatively sweet, with stewed fruit. On the palate it offers something of a contrast to olfactory expectations, being nutty, dry and initially quite hot, with a touch of pepper. Quietly assured and extra-mature, this is a whisky that opens slowly with real finesse to reveal an exquisite structure. rich in body, yet still full of delicate Cardhu character. The freshness of the nose, with its cleansing fruit, is a foil to the rich treat in store as the palate delivers all the comforting, melting richness of a fruity liqueur chocolate truffle and a complex, rich, sweet, spicy finish to match.

Nose: Macerated fruits; pears, plums, cherries. Hints of pineapple develop a light, green, gooseberry-like edge. 

Palate: A smooth and sweet taste, yet with light and lively acidity. Soft, delicate, fruity core with rich, chocolate-edged flavours. Warming overall.

Finish: Exciting and complex, the conclusion is long, smooth, gently drying and rich in cocoa.

This Tamnavulin from Cadenhead has spent 14 years maturing in a small selection of ex-bourbon barrels. Aromas of juicy stone fruits soaked in syrup, fresh pineapple, peaches and grapefruit kick off this summery feeling dram. Zesty lemons with banana cake covered in caramel buttercream arrive on the palate. Finally, warm fruits, flat cola and chocolate biscuits come through to finish.

Demonstrating the impact of exceptional cask management, the tenth edition of our highly-sought after release embodies this philosophy and stands proudly alongside its award-winning predeccesors.

Each striving to better the last, Batch 10 is a true illustration of the artistry and expertise that creates every drop of our liquid gold. To deliver our classically Sherried profile, Billy hand-selected Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso casks to be married with spirit maturing in red wine barriques and medium toast/medium char American virgin oak barrels. The result is a well-balanced, yet complex malt with distinctive notes of dark fruits and layers of warming sweet spice.

Presented in its purest form at natural cask strength of 58.6%, without added colouring or chill-filtration.

Intensely rich Mahogany.

Nose

Waves of honeycomb, orange zest and treacle, with fig syrup, mocha and poached orchard fruits, followed by cinnamon and butterscotch.

Palate

Lashings of cocoa, heather honey and baking spices, followed by dried red berries and Black Forest gâteau, with maraschino cherries and anise on the finish.

This Aberlour has been finished in a first fill oloroso butt and bottled by independent bottler James Eadie.

Nose
Fresh and aromatic roasted coffee, cloves and pepper mingle with strawberries and raspberry jam.

Taste
Soft, rounded fresh strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and redcurrants.

Finish
Thick strawberry jam and clotted cream.

A smooth and balanced spirit - a fine blend of golden grain and full flavoured malted barley.  Triple-distilled and aged a minimum of three years in bourbon barrels.  Proper No. Twelve offers hints of vanilla, honey-like sweetness and toasted wood.  A proper salute to all.

The name Kavalan means ‘flatland people’ and is named after the local indigenous tribes who originally inhabited the area. The land on which the distillery sits is known for its cold spring water and salty ocean air and let’s not forget the subtropical heat which helps with accelerated maturation taking the whisky only two years to produce.

The top floors of this warehouse at the distillery can reach up to 108 degrees Fahrenheit, causing an angel’s share of no less than 15% annually. The second whisky in the Kavalan Concertmaster series is aged in the distillery’s own special reserve of refill casks, then finished in the Spanish ex Sherry casks. Bottled at 40% abv with no colouring.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Tropical fruits of mango and coconut, red fruits of raspberries and cranberries, milk chocolate and creamy vanilla toffee.

Palate: Ripe dark fruits of raisins and figs, toasted walnuts and almond flakes, creme brûlée and strawberry jam.

Finish: Dark chocolate, creamy toffee and red fruits.

Taiwanese heavyweight Kavalan, most recently ranked 24^th on the World’s Most Admired Whiskies List by Drinks International, is unveiling the global launch of an all new Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask single malt whisky

• Kavalan is launching a new Triple Sherry single malt bottling featuring a mix of whiskies matured in Oloroso, Pedro-Ximenez, and Moscatel Sherry barrels.
• The distillery describes the whisky as having “characteristics of cinnamon, smoked candied plums and citrus, berry, tropical fruit and longan scents, slightly honey, chocolate and toffee tickle the taste buds cheerfully, just like a supple flamenco dance."
• It will come with an all new packaging which visually expresses the profile of the whisky through intertwining patterns of white, gold and red, which were painted with acrylic, to symbolise the smooth taste of the three Sherry casks used.
• This will be a real balancing act for the Taiwanese distillery as it must avoid becoming overly-sherried, which can be sharp and too intense, whilst drawing out the mellow, honey sweetness from the PX and Moscatel barrels, and the dried fruits from the Oloroso barrels.

Flavour: Ripe, mature berries and dried fruits fill the nose, with fresh scents of grapes and citrus interlaced with chocolate brownie and toffee sweetness. Hints of cinnamon, clover and spiciness, blend into pleasant oakiness and fragrant rosemary.

Palate: Lingering flavours of sherry dried fruits. Warm and smooth with a mellow texture. A lively flamenco dance of candied fruit, caramel, and honey sweetness on the taste buds. Multi-layered and perfectly balanced, it's an unforgettable feast for the palate.

Tasting: Best paired with desserts, dark chocolates, nuts, seafood salads, smoky meats and mildly spicy cuisine.

A 2002 Pulteney single malt from independent bottler Hunter Laing that was matured in a single ex-bourbon barrel for 19 years, before being bottled in February 2022 as part of its Old Malt Cask series.

TASTING NOTES:

Introducing Allier. A celebration of NZ single malt whisky and one of the most important French Oak forests: Allier. 

This whisky is made from unsmoked New Zealand grown malted barley and has been matured in a second fill wine cask from the Allier forest, central France. Initial grape notes from the wine have been pulled off in the first fill. What’s left, and what has been imparted is beautifully smooth, balanced, and compliments the malty NZ whisky.

The bottling is giving generous notes of pain aux raisin, dark chocolate, custard, hazelnut.
