Cullerot 2024 is a fresh, aromatic, and elegant white wine, with a Mediterranean touch that balances delicacy and playfulness. The name Cullerot means tadpole in Valencian.

About the Producer:

Celler del Roure is nothing short of the pioneer of quality wine in the DO Valencia. Until recently, Valencia was only known for its cheap bulk wines, but it is now blossoming into one of Spain most interesting wine regions. Thanks to the estate, which rehabilitated long-forgotten local grapes like the red Mando and the white Verdil, and also rediscovered the use of amphoras.

Pablo Calatayud is like the exception that proves the rule. He has no family roots in wine. He is a newcomer in the profession, which is not really a bad thing in a region like Valencia, where it is better not to follow the « tradition » of high yields, low prices and bad quality. He was lucky enough not to be influenced by all this and to start with a sound basis. His family is active in the local furniture business but supports his project wholeheartedly. Since a few years, his wife Sandra has also been working on the estate. The vineyard is located in Clariano, Valencia’s hinterland, a region with an enormous wine potential. Pablo’s wine story began in 1995-1996, just after he finished his agronomy and oenology studies. Then, with the help of his father and brother, he decided to buy an estate in the highlands and plant it with vines. French grapes, but also old local varieties, which bear witness to the Valencian wine history (even if most of them are long forgotten). In 2000, Pablo produced the first vintage of his Alcusses (the name is a reference to an Iberian settlement dating 4 centuries BC). On the labels of the wines and in the boxes, we'll find the text of a small tin plaque dating from these times, found on the estate. It is written in paleo-hispanic. This is a way for Pablo to pay his dues to the culture of this beautiful region. Pablo’s ambition re-dynamised the whole region. Several other estates followed his example and started producing quality wines, in accordance with their terroirs and tradition. Pablo’s most important decision was the purchase of an old bodega on the mountainside. There they found a real treasure: nearly 100 dug-in amphoras in an almost perfect state of conservation. This is something really unique, all the more so as these amphoras are nearly 500 years old ! Pablo is experimenting with making white and red wines in them, and the results are encouraging. This estate’s future looks bright and the birth of Pablo’s first daughter, Carla, on March 8th 2011, only confirmed it.

Pablo can use a wide range of grapes, but after 15 years on the estate, he knows which ones are really interesting. He thus grafted Monastell onto his Tempranillo, since this last variety did not seem suited to the area. Pablo’s estate covers 66 hectares of old and young vines, more precisely: 14.5 ha of Merlot, 12.5 ha of Monastrell, 12 ha of Cabernet Sauvignon, 7 ha of Tintorera, 6.5 ha of Petit Verdot, 6.5 ha of Syrah, 4 ha of Mandó and 2.5 ha of Chardonnay. He also buys some Macabeu, Malvasía, Pedro Ximenez and Verdil grapes for his whites. As far as red grapes are concerned, he has a special interest in Mandó, a very delicate variety that was nearly exctinct, and which needs a skillful ageing process. Pablo also likes Monastrell (also known as Mourvèdre), a very Mediterranean grape quite common down south. Last but not least, the red-pulp Tintorera, which plays an increasing part on the estate. The other grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Syrah add structure, body, juicy tannins, and spiciness to the wines, respectively. The vines of these varieties are more than 15 years old. Pablo farms the estate organically. Celler del Roure takes part in several university experiments on water stress, canopy management, vine training methods, etc…\

Terroir:

Vineyards are divided between four fincas, on the northern flank of the Serra Grossa (“l’Ombria”) and in the Alforins-Alcusses vale. The average altitude is 550 m. Most soils are very poor in organic matter - mostly sands, clay and limestone. The area is in a transition climate – this is what is called the pre-meseta, a link between the high plateau of Castilla La Mancha and the Costera valleys (Vall d’Albaida and Rio Cànyoles). The mountain ranges guide the wind coming from the interior (El Poniente) to the vineyard; the area also takes advantage of the humid breezes coming from the Mediterranean (El Levante), which gives the region some 600 mm of rainfall.

SALVIS GRATIA* (meaning 'Saving Grace') is a small-batch labour-of-love, carefully hand harvested from some of the last remnants of the Madeira Semillon clone in the Barossa, planted by the Fechner brothers in 1983. SALVIS GRATIA* is an exciting addition to our 'Barossa Nouveau' series joining our established Old Vine Grenache stars Pax Aeterna and Lux Venit* Rosé. This series is all about championing these remnant Old Vine varietals that have always been special, but have sometimes fallen off the radar as new varietal fads come and go. Like PAX and LUX, SALVIS is made in a minimal intervention style - hand harvested, gently whole bunch pressed, 25% completed ferment and matured in new sirugue french oak puncheon. SALVIS GRATIA* is a sublime, zesty, elegantly opulent expression of Barossa Semillon... it's an absolute ripper!

Vieux Château des Combes is located in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, just five kilometres away from the historic village of Saint-Emilion. This is a deep, ruby red wine. Complex aromas of ripe berries and spice lead into a palate rich with flavours of dark red fruits and coffee.

THE WINERY The Lindner family of Langmeil Winery has been immersed in the Barossa’s culture of farming, food, wine and community for six generations.  Their commitment to quality in all aspects is unwavering, and any wine that bears the Langmeil name represents the family’s pursuit of excellence in wine and community.  The family’s vision is to highlight the rare qualities of old vine Shiraz using hands-on winemaking techniques. Gentle destemming, open fermentation, basket pressing and two years' maturation in French oak barrels accentuate the natural fruit intensity and structure.   

WINEMAKER’S NOTES 2016 VINTAGE REPORT We are getting used to sampling earlier each year, and in 2016, for the first time, a parcel of Shiraz was nearly booked in for the end of January. Fortunately, timely rain and mild conditions delayed the start of vintage, allowing flavour and colour to catch up with sugar levels. With the dry winter and a slightly warmer spring, favourable flowering and fruit set, yields were generally little above average (except our Eden Valley vineyard which was hit by frost on 1 December, yes, December!). Followed by mild, late summer weather, both growers and winemakers were happy to see another solid vintage tucked away. By early March 70% of our harvest was complete and with another sprinkling of rain, vintage slowed, building flavour in the late-ripening varieties like Grenache and Mataro, as well as excellent results from our Eden Valley reds and whites. We finished harvest with our Eden Valley Cabernet Sauvignon on 15 April. This vintage highlights how tenacious and robust grape vines are, producing good yields and high quality in a dry season (but they cannot sustain dry conditions forever). Fortunately, a more normal winter this year with much-needed rain is refilling the soil and water resources. Bring it on!

Tasting Note: A special blend of Riesling, Muscat, and Pinot Blanc from gravel, clay, and limestone soils. Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The Riesling gives this wine a notable acidity, keeping it vibrant and fresh with the fruitiness from all three and the floral touch the Muscat brings. Dry (less than 2g/L residual sugar.)

Chardonnay is king and queen at Bogle in California. It's the only varietal this winery makes so it invests enormously in ensuring the Chardonnays meet up with market demand for big, buttery, vanilla and cedar flavours in the wines. 

The Reserve Chardonnay from Bogle is the biggest, creamiest Chardonnay we have from this producer in store at Regional and it's made from ripe grapes, which have spent significant time in new American oak barrels to gain creamy richness as well as spicy, cedar notes to add depth.

If you're a big buttery Chardonnay fan, come and get it.

La Grande Dame is one of the great champagnes and is a big, dry, toasty, full bodied wine, made from 90% Pinot Noir, which adds layers of savoury depths to this complex bubbly, and 10% Chardonnay. It is named in homage to the Grands Cru vineyards from which the grapes in this wine come, from Champagne villages Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzy and Verzenay and 47% Chardonnay from Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. 

Its name also pays homage to the Grande Dame of Champagne, the late widow Clicquot, whose main legacy is to have left both the brand and the region in better condition than she found them, mostly famously by inventing riddling; the turning of the bottle to remove the yeast sediment into its neck, prior to disgorgement. This resulted in higher quality, cleaner, fresher bubbles in both look and taste. Her quest was quality and she is widely credited with having raised it significantly in the Champagne region and in the bottles it produces.

This Reserva Tempranillo from Valdepenas is a great example of the quality coming out of Spain at the  moment.  Ripe and juicy, yet also with hints of oak and complexity.  Grapes from their oldest, low-yielding vineyards were combined with those of younger vines to create a blend of rich dark fruit with smooth vanilla and rich cocoa. 12 months in American oak barrels, followed by a further 24 months in the bottle add a silken texture to the blend.  Superb with hearty stews and char-grilled steaks as well as a variety of tapas.

"Dark cherry red with a savoury bouquet infused with redcurrant fruit and cake spices, then spicy and savoury to the taste with lifted red berry fruit, a touch of orange zest and peppery spices. There's a nice touch of smokiness coming through, underlying earthy notes and a long dry finish lifted by vanillin oak and mint. Tannins are firm yet the wine is ripe and juicy with a pleasing generosity. Fantastic presentation.  13% alc."

The Yoghurt liqueur. Yoghurt flavour is used to give it a refreshing bittersweet "adult taste". Enjoy on the rocks with a berry fruit juice.

A silky red with light spicy aromas and lovely depth of flavour with layers of red and dark fruit on the palate due to the inclusion of four different grapes in the blend of this wine. Three French grapes lead the way with Shiraz 56%, Grenache 17% and Cinsault 17%, all supported here by the dark deep flavours of Portugal's Tinta Barocca which contributes 10%. 

A portion of foot stomping helps to extract colour and juice prior to fermentation.
Ageing is in older, larger 4000 litre oak for 16 months.

From the winery...
The 2014 AA Badenhorst is our ninth release of this appellation wine. The wine has the potential to age very gracefully for the next decade or so. The tannins are prominent and well integrated and refreshing as a number of the parcels were picked quite early. The aromas are more upfront than normal with complex notes of pepper, liquorice, perfume and black cherries. The palate entry is quite dense with lavender and dark berry fruit. The finish is dry with well spread tannins ending with savoury and currant flavours.

Lovely mid-depth colour with purple tints. Lifted red fruit and earthy notes on the nose. Ripe fruit and low oak impact on the palate, with the new oak providing a slight vanillin sweetness that compliments the berry fruit. The ripe fruit tannins are complemented by the natural fruit acidity, resulting in a very long finish for the wine. A stylistically typical medium-bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz from a very good year.

The RISECCOLI Chianti Classico is a true representation of the estate’s terroir.

The Sangiovese is fermented and kept separately for 12 months in temperature-controlled cement vats. Fermentation for the Merlot (when required) takes place in stainless steel tanks and then aging is completed in French barriques before blending with the Sangiovese.

CRDO Monterrei Characteristics

Cimate:

• D.O Monterrei´s territory belongs to river Duero´s basin because river Tamega, which crosses the D.O from North to South, flows into it.It has a mild Mediterranean climate with continental tendency with Atlantic influence. Its summers are hot and dry while winters are cold. The zone has many temperature differences, up to 20ºC in ripening period.

Soil:

• Monterrei has three types of soils: slated and schist, ideal in draught periods that provide aromas to the red wines, granitic and sandy; that come from granitic rock erosion, they have low pH, appropriate for white wines. Sedimentary; complex due to the mixture of materials.

Fraga do Corvo has vineyards in all 3 soil types lending incredible complexity to their wines.

Appearance:  Precise yellow color with greenish iridescence, steely rim, clean and bright, with very good dense tears.

Nose:  Juicy tart green and yellow apples, with intense floral aromas (jasmine, mimosa, orange blossom), subtle hints of lemon and clementine zest, boxwood, freshly cut grass, tea leaf, delicate fragrant aromas.

Palate:  With a creamy and voluminous entry, enveloping, leaving a sensation of intense freshness, fruity notes of white plum, lime peel zest, subtle minerality, rich in elegant nuances, with intensity, glyceric, long.
