Blue Slate Soil is the most typical type of slate in the Middle Mosel. Rich in potassium, it provides vital nutrients to the vines and gives the wines a pronounced mineral edge that enhances the naturally high acidity of Riesling. In addition to the heat retaining blue slate soil, the vineyards are characterized by incredibly steep slopes, a favourable position near the river and excellent drainage.

About the producer
Meo-Camuzet is one of the undisputed star estates of Burgundy, located in the heart of the prestigious Vosne-Roman´e. Until 1988 most of the domaine's holdings were leased out to other vignerons and amazingly most of the wine was sold off to négociants in bulk. Today, it is a very different story. Meo Camuzet now has over 2.5 hectares of grands Crus and 8 hectares of some of the finest Premier Cru vineyards of Nuits-St-Georges and Vosne-Romanée.
Jean-Nicolas Meo and Christian Faurois now run the Domaine and together they produce some of the very best wine in the Côte d'Or. Meo Camuzet produces full-bodied, firm, rich, oaky, concentrated wines, which no serious Burgundy drinker should overlook.

Based on our award-winning Wintermede, Excaliber is a robust, rich, traditional, sweet dessert style honey wine, made from Manuka honey blended with other exquisite New Zealand native honeys to give depth, spice, and balance. We have added a special honey to the blend to complement the vanilla and soft caramel flavours of the toasted French oak with which it has been aged, to achieve super premium quality.
Excaliber is best served at a cool room temperature. DO NOT REFRIGERATE. This will suppress the oak character.
Excaliber can be enjoyed with a cheese board, or on its own instead of port or sherry, as well as with dessert.
