Commercial Description

Taittinger Brut Réserve is a blend of Chardonnay (40%), Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier (60%) wines from over 35 different vineyards and vintages matured to perfection. 

This high proportion of Chardonnay, unique among fine non-vintage champagnes, and a minimum ageing of three years in the cellars, where it reaches the peak of aromatic maturity, makes Taittinger Brut Reserve a delicately balanced champagne, known for its consistently excellent quality all over the world.

Taittinger considers it an honour to produce a Brut champagne every year without exception. The brilliant body is golden yellow in colour. The bubbles are fine, while the foam is discreet yet lingering. The nose, very open and expressive, delivers aromas of fruit and brioche. it also gives off the fragrance of peach, white flowers (hawthorn, acacia) and vanilla pod. The entry onto the palate is lively, fresh and in total harmony. This is a delicate wine with flavours of fresh fruit and honey.

From the famed Soave producer Pieropan this Valpolicella Superiore is made up of: Corvina Veronese 60%, Corvinone 30%, Rondinella 5%, Croatina Veronese 5%.

Organically grown at 300-500m, on vines with an average age of 20 years.

Grapes are destemmed and pressed. Fermentation temperature is between 23-24 °C / 73-75 °F with a maceration for 12 days with regular punching down for a delicate extraction of tannins and colours.

It ages in french oak tonneaux (40-50% of first passage) for 18/24 months followed by a period in bottle before release.

Typical note of cherry, small red fruits, currant jam and red roses. Pleasant spicy notes, black pepper, cinnamon, juniper berries and cloves. Hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, aromatic woods and a distinct balsamic character. Palate: Fresh, sapid, with fruity character; tannic and delicate texture.

Pieropan Soave is a blend of 85% Garganega and 15% Trebbiano di Soave. This fresh, bright, white wine comes from Pieropan’s hillside vineyard in the Soave classico zone. On the nose, delicate notes of almond are complemented by flinty mineral notes. The palate is crisp and fruity, with notes of lemon and fresh stone fruit.

Saline and textural this wine straddles the divide between new world and old world Chardonnay.

Full bodied French Viognier from the south, which is affordable and beautifully well balanced, thanks to its peachy aromas and zingy dry palate structure. This wine highlights Viognier at its best; dry and rich but also with complex nutty notes, wich is no mean feat at this price. This wine is made with grapes grown in three French wine regions; on the Massif Central, the Mediterranean and the French Alps. This combination provides balance to the fleshy, full bodied appeal of peachy Viognier. This wine was aged for six months on lees in concrete tanks. 

It is also refreshingly varietally labelled.

Dead Flowers is a field blend of Pinot Noir and Gewurztraminer from a single vineyard in Waipara. It is a white and red co-ferment - partly on skins and partly direct pressed. It is then aged in a mixture of oak, tank and amphora.

Crunchy and fresh with mad florals and spicy Pinot textures. Light red in colour and chillable.

Whole berry fermented, short maceration

From several vineyards in North Canterbury. Grown on clay limestone and gravels
The Pinot Noir grapes come from organically-grown vineyards around North Canterbury. They are destemmed, fermented with native yeasts (with just one gentle punchdown) and macerated on skins for six weeks. The wine is matured in Tinajas (lined Spanish clay amphora) and bottled unfined, unfiltered with only minimal sulphur.

Beautiful complex sparkling wine made in the same way as champagne, only in the heart of the Wairarapa. This is one of our staff faves and we eagerly await its return in store - with a new fresh vintage from Johner Estate in Gladstone.

5.6% abv

Vibrant and delicious feijoa cider! Made from freshly pressed feijoas and apples from our orchard which were wild fermented with a portion co fermented and aged for 12 months to create complexity and depth of flavour = flavour explosion!

The result is a bright and invigorating cider! Off-dry and zesty with lovely feijoa flavour straight from the tree!

Apples: blend of heritage apples

Peckham's - Fresh berry against a structured cider background, with no added sugar.  This cider captures the aroma and taste of fresh, whole, Nelson boysenberries.  It's probably the only berry cider you will find made from 100% Juice.

5.4% ABV.

Pure Kingston Black juice wild fermented in oak.  Sour notes from the addtion of a little of our Brett Monster cider fermented at Garage Project's wild workshop.  This is as close to a Sidra Natural as we have come.  Unfiltered, enjoyably acetic, and a little too quaffable.

7.5% ABV.

Some things don’t need polish to shine. Northland Chic is brimming with Amarillo, El Dorado and Comet – a bright, lively trio that shoots across the glass with bursts of tropical fruit, citrus zing and a hint of herbal stonefruit.
