Unit price perA dark ivory coloured beer with a high fermentation. The show piece of the brewery. Thanks to its soft and unconditionally genuine aroma, the beer can be smoothly tasted. The Abt has a very fruity flavour.
Beautiful layered flavours superbly balanced. There’s dark fruit in the forefront (prunes, cherries), and bright, slightly bitter notes in the back (orange peel, hints of clove and coriander seed) Great mouthfeel. It’s syrupy, but not overly sweet. This is an almost perfect quad, quite probably my favourite.

Unit price perWestmalle Tripel is a clear, golden yellow Trappist beer that undergoes a secondary fermentation in the bottle (9,5% alcohol). It is a complex beer with a fruity aroma and a nice nuanced hop scent. It is soft and creamy in the mouth, with a bitter touch carried by the fruity aroma. An exceptional beer, with a great deal of finesse and elegance. And with a splendid long aftertaste.
The Westmalle Tripel is indeed called the "mother of all tripels." This type of beer was first brewed in Westmalle abbey in 1934 when the new brewing hall came into use. The current formula has stayed practically unchanged since 1956, thus more than 50 years.

Unit price perYou can spend years waiting for a new release in Talisker's core range then two come along at once! Hot on the heels of Talisker Storm in early 2013 comes Talisker's Port Ruighe, pronounced 'Port Ree'.
This no age statement release is finished in Port wine casks, imparting a new dimension to this Isle of Skye single malt.
Nose: After a wave of initial sea spray, the nose becomes more complex with Crayola crayons, orange pith and a touch of white chocolate. Demerara and even sticking plaster emerge briefly along with plummy, umeshu notes.
Palate: Initial characteristic Talisker brine once again but much sweeter than usual. Thick and mouth coating like the Storm with chilli and a little chocolate orange. Increasingly smoky - much smokier than the nose suggests.
Finish: Milk chocolate becomes cocoa and oak with mocha notes and the faintest hint of that orange pith once again.

Unit price perKasteel Donker is a member of the Belgian quadrupel family. These are strong, sweet to bitter, dark brown beers where the malt predominates. They were inspired by the beers of the Trappist brewers. It is a full-mouthed, malty beer with touches of caramel, coffee and chocolate coming from the roast malt. The sweet initial taste is quite surprising. Further tasting shows this beer to be intriguingly complex.

Unit price perTimorasso is one of the great white grapes of northern Italy and it nearly died out following phylloxera in the late 1800s, until it was revived in the small Colli Tortonesi DOC of Piedmonte.
Timorasso produces wine that is structured and elegant and capable of aging for a surprisingly long time in bottle. On the nose the wine shows notes of white peach, honey, acacia, hawthorn blossom, and chamomile, developing smoky and mineral notes with age.
This is a great dry white that gets better with age and is also hugely complex right now.

Unit price perThis frambozenbier, or raspberry beer, is brewed using Bacchus Oud Bruin which sets it apart from most raspberry beers that are based on lambic or geuze. The standout characteristic of this beer is its beautiful balance between sour and sweet with aromas of very sweet raspberries, malt and earthy yeast. Bacchus Frambozenbier is mild and slightly sour with hints of balsamic vinegar. It sparkles on the tongue and has plenty of body. The roast malt contributes a slight touch of caramel. The finish is dominated by sweet raspberries and a mild sourness.

Unit price perFrom the cherry tree’s transient flowers, its fruits ripen – round, red and packed with sunshine. Timmermans Kriek blends its famed lambic with this sweetness for a beer that can quench any thirst. Its natural freshness will make you blush for joy.
Its flavour is all cherry, as is already apparent from its very powerful nose. Its acidity is neutralised by its agreeably sweet and fruity bouquet. Its taste pervades the mouth and lingers gently, elegantly tinted with summer cherries.

Unit price perStraffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.
It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Unit price perA “light”, brown abbey ale with a deep colour with red reflections, chocolate, coffee and liquorice aromas and a touch of aniseed and white fruit notes. The first sip is full-flavoured, with a hint of acidity which heightens the roasted notes provided by the special malts. Malted flavours are prominent on the palate. The finish is particularly long, mainly acidic with a hint of sourness and a faint bitter aftertaste. Served cold, the spicy aromas will come to the fore, whereas when served at cellar temperature they give way to toasted, biscuit notes. Worth rediscovering again and again.
