NEW RELEASE – NZIPA 2024 Winner Best Packaged Beer Smith’s NZIPA Challenge

After taking out 1st place in the Packaged Beer category and 3^rd place overall at Smith’s NZIPA Challenge we present this year’s entry NZIPA 2024 . We’ve taken inspiration from the nouveau Westy IPA styles of the US. A simple and light pilsner malt base layered with these three New Zealand hops Southern Cross, Wai-iti and Nectaron, we find flavours of pine, lemon citrus and stone fruits. An attempt to see where simplicity might intersect intrigue.

NEW RELEASE – Sunrise 07 Celebrating International Womens Day – Pink Boots Colab.

Sunrise Series, 07 Hazy Pale Ale Pink Boots Co-lab. Who runs the world!… Sunshine Brewery has paired up with Pink Boots for International Women’s Day. The 7th annual YCH hop blend includes Idaho 7, Ahtanum, El Dorado and HBC638 bringing hits of berry, tropical and stone fruit. Brewed by our two rising young brewers, Nona and Marion, we are sure this will be a banger.

THE MOUNTAINS ARE CALLING UNFILTERED NZIPA

ABV 6.8%

We went all-in with one of our favourite NZ hops: Riwaka. And this unfiltered IPA is loaded! Fresh grass, capsicum and dank diesel-laden aromas are underpinned with a passionfruit and citrus palate plus enough malt to back it up. Like a fresh powder run down the mountain, the smooth bitter finish leaves you wanting more. Here’s to winter and good beer!

Hazewired
New Zealand Hazy IPA
7.0% ABV

Following the footsteps of trailblazing older brother Hopwired, Hazewired is a beer set to forge its own path. Packed with a plethora of the best NZ Hops, we’ve borrowed Nelson Sauvin and Motueka from Hopwired. An injection of ultra-modern varieties Nectaron and Superdelic makes for one big, juicy Hazy IPA, loaded with notes of tropical mango, candied pineapple and passionfruit. An ode to the past, forged in the present.

Pale golden colour with a foamy white head. Light biscuity malt notes carry the hops. A mix of American Citra and NZ Cascade hops give the beer a bright and vibrant citrus burst. Crisp and drinkable. Lower in alcohol than most IPAs.

THE YARN BEHIND THE BREW

From 1917 to 1952, New Plymouth Prison was mainly used to detain apparent 'deviants’ convicted of homosexual offences. Fortunately those archaic days of discrimination have long since passed, but by acknowledging our history we can look forward with a sense of pride and inclusiveness alongside our local rainbow community. This bright IPA bursts with colourful hop character as a nod to our LGBTQI+ whanau.

Tropical Stout with notes of guava, pineapple and cacao. Delicate and moreish.

You can have too much of a good thing. London, October 17, 1814, one of the Horse Shoe Brewery’s massive beer vats collapses releasing over half a million litres of porter, demolishing nearby buildings and killing eight people - their causes of death variously described as drowning or drunkenness. The Great Deluge, brewed with barley, oats, roasted wheat and East Kent Goldings, then aged in oak barrels for over a year with brettanomyces and lactobacilli creating a throwback style porter with dark chocolate and coffee notes and a restrained tart twist. Enjoy in moderation.

THUNDERBIRD  |  BRIGHT IPA

5.8% alc./vol.

They say its wings bring thunder and its eyes flash lightning, but the Thunderbird’s intensity is benevolent, its appearance a good omen. This bright IPA borrows its name to give a fresh retelling to a familiar story by keeping things lean, lucid and enlivening. Its dazzling tropical character comes thanks to modern hop varieties from North America, where these tales were first told.

Swifty is named after the Swiftburn stream that flows through Royalburn Station in the South Island's high country, where our spray-free barley is grown. Brewed by the good folks at Garage Project, this is a Refreshing Beer. An uncomplicated, easy-drinking classic ale. You beauty.

6.2% - Fresh hopped hazy harvest IPA

Fresh hopped, hazy, harvest IPA. A juicy blend of Nelson Sauvin & Rakau hops, all picked on the same day at Freestyle hop farm, half of the harvest was rushed still wet from the field to the Garage and plunged straight into this beer, the other half was quickly dried and added to the fermenter. The result is a beer overflowing with lush citrus, resinous pine and tropical fruit. Just New Zealand grown hops at their harvest fresh best.
