Jim Beam Kentucky Rye whiskey is not a bourbon (obviously... it's a rye whiskey and so based on a rye recipe rather than a corn-based one for bourbon) but rather represents one of the Beam efforts at the rye whiskey market. A spicy rye, aged for four years and described by Jim Murray thus: "...this is a rye that refuses to take prisoners, a volcano of flavors erupting over the taste buds, making for one of the world's super-great whiskeys.

The subtlety and complexity of Bulleit Bourbon come from its unique blend of rye, corn, and barley malt, along with special strains of yeast and pure Kentucky limestone filtered water. Due to its especially high rye content, Bulleit Bourbon has a bold, spicy character with a finish that's distinctively clean and smooth.

Medium amber in color, with gentle spiciness and sweet oak aromas. Mid-palate is smooth with tones of maple, oak, and nutmeg. Finish is long, dry, and satiny with a light toffee flavor.

Evan Williams is a smooth, easy to drink Bourbon named after Evan Williams who, in 1783, opened Kentuckys first commercial distillery along the banks of the Ohio River. Many years and barrels later, we're still producing Bourbon with the same time-honored methods that Evan Williams did years ago.

Today, everyone has access to the world’s first single barrel bourbon. The taste profile is sweet, with notes of citrus and oak. The creamy vanilla nose is teased with caramel and butterscotch, all underscored by familiar baking spices such as clove, nutmeg, or cinnamon. What happens when you bring two masters of the art of whisk(e)y making together to collaborate? Astonishingly delicious things, apparently. Legent Bourbon is the work of Jim Beam master distiller Fred Noe and House of Suntory chief blender Shinji Fukuyo. The whiskey itself is a bourbon made with one of Fred Noe's recipes, which is aged initially in charred virgin white oak. Following this, portions are finished in California red wine casks and sherry casks, before being blended by Shinji Fukuyo. Fantastic results ensued.

Nose: Plenty of classic bourbon character is at the forefront of the nose but the cask influence adds balance and depth. Brown sugar, toasted almonds, jammy fruits, butterscotch, vanilla and orange peel combine initially, with delicate warmth and spice provided from ginger root underneath. A hint of Pinot Noir and stewed black cherry emerge as the nose develops, with milk chocolate, sandalwood and hints of leather.

Palate: An initially deliciously silky delivery leads with rich caramel, floral notes and a suggestion of marmalade before chewy rye spice initially makes things more complex among savoury notes of roasted peanuts and a slightly bitter quality from charred wood, coffee beans and unsweetened dark chocolate. Dark cherry jam and stewed plums then burst through adding vibrant fruitiness alongside the sweetness of vanilla, cake batter, muscovado sugar and a hint of cola. Warmth from freshly-ground black pepper is present in the backdrop.

Finish: Chocolate-covered cherries, black fruits, sugary cereals (Sugar Puffs, mostly) and a hint of liquorice fade ever so gradually; while the nutmeg and oak spices play about for longer.

Moderately full-bodied. Walnuts, dried citrus, flowers, allspice. Rich, silky texture. Deep sensations of nuts and fragrance are followed by a spicy core of fruit. Quite rounded in finish.
