Sanaig, named after an inlet on Islay’s rugged Atlantic cost, is a vatting of Kilchoman matured in both sherry and bourbon barrels. This sherry cask scotch whisky is matured in a high proportion of oloroso barrels, imparting a balance of dried fruits, dark chocolate and rich peat smoke into the spirit.

Sweet vanilla and dry cured meat aromas.  Peat smoke undertones are complemented by banana and apricot.

Ripe Banana, kiwi and vibrant hints of fresh citrus, leading to a long, sweet and smoky finish.

Kilchoman's highly anticipated annual 'Loch Gorm' release brings together peated spirit matured in Oloroso sherry casks, producing a signature flavour profile of sherry wood and smoke. Spicy dark chocolate and layers of rich dried fruit can be found, with a flavour akin to sticky, slightly burnt dark toffee. The fragrant peat smoke melds with these elements, with a touch of citrus oil, a distinctive character of Kilchoman's peaty style.

The biggest and peatiest of Ardbeg's "core" range. The nose is creamy and a little fruity - then the peat bursts through in a massive cloud of iodine and smoke. The palate starts out sweet, with with hot-buttered, toasted sultana bread, bittersweet caramel and burnt honey. It dries out towards the finish, ending with salty ash, dried beef and szechuan pepper.

Islay is mostly known for big, peaty, smoky whisky. Well, Bowmore is a little more dialled back, making it a balanced whisky featuring all those things you love about Islay, just in a more subtle way.Drink with: A splash of water if required.Established in 1779, Bowmore is the oldest legal distillery on Islay and one of the earliest in all Scotland. Located geographically and stylistically between the gentle whiskies to the north and the more powerful malts to the south of the island, Bowmore possesses a balance that ever-intrigues whisky aficionados. The malt is peated for a shorter period than with the stronger Islays, and the use of around a third of the casks for maturation being oloroso sherry contributes to its aromatic complexity and finesse. The past few years have seen Interest in Bowmore grow astoundingly.?

This unique expression from Laphroaig combines the unforgettable flavour of our 10 year old whisky with the sweet, aromatic flavours from the Oloroso sherry casks.

This marriage of casks creates a rich, full bodied flavour with notes of Manuka honey, bacon and maple syrup alongside the classic smoke, seaweed and hint of salt that Laphroaig is known and loved for.

The European oak sherry casks are carefully selected to compliment the unique and much-loved taste of Laphroaig. The additional sweetness and character of the Oloroso casks add complexity and balance to create a unique and exciting expression, but one that stays true to the character of Laphroaig.

Lore, meaning the passing of a skill or tradition through word of mouth, is the story of how we make Laphroaig, encapsulating the craft passed down from generation to generation over two centuries. ‘Lore’ is a marriage of classical Laphroaig styles and many ages of Laphroaig; some as old as vintage 1993. 

The marriage draws from the peaty power of Laphroaig with the smoothness of double matured stock finished in European oak hogsheads. Let us share with you the crafts behind this stunningly complex expression. To create Lore we used both American oak and European oak. The former smaller barrels give the strong rich peaty flavours and a longer maturation for the large European Hogsheads until all the deep complexities are slowly released from the wood. Stored in our old dunnage warehouse beside the Atlantic the briny sea air replaces the ‘Angels share’ in the barrels over the ‘long sleep’."

This is one of those drams that you can keep coming back to and always raises a smile - pure peat driven indulgence.

Ardbeg BizarreBQ has been matured in a combination of double charred oak casks, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and our unique BBQ casks. Together they ignite a feast of aromas in hickory smoked ham, grilled artichokes, flamed steak and cinnamon dusted espresso.

The third edition, The Beithir’s Tale 15 Years Old is the last of the Anthology has been aged for 15 years in a special designer charred bourbon casks, air-seasoned, heavily toasted and then lightly charged

AGE – 15 Years Old

COLOUR – Pale Straw

NOSE – Pungent, oily and spicy, rich notes of treacle wrap around creosote and smoked herbs. Toasted apples and raisins reveal a sweeter
underbelly. With water, eucalyptus and menthol burst forth as fennel and pine trail behind.

TASTE – Astoundingly balanced, a sizzling mouthfeel leads into peat smoke, coffee grits and currents. Sweet lemon balsam entwines with smoked mandarins, followed by a sharp, smoky tang.

FINISH – Finally, a long, meandering finish brings with it subtle hints of vanilla and smoked butter.

Laphroaig has fashioned this whisky using malt from a number of different types of cask, including Oloroso Sherry butts, white American oak, Pedro Ximenez seasoned hoggies, Quarter casks and first fill bourbon casks. 

This does sport the hallmark medicinal Laphroaig qualities we all love so much but it's not packing a massive peat punch and so is a great entry whisky to the joys of Islay for someone just starting the Islay journey.

At just 5 years old, this feisty and intensely powerful smoky whisky, is untamed by age.

From elusive sea creatures to eerie hillside half-breeds, the Ardbeg Distillery has a history of exploring inexplicable legends in their bottlings. However, this next unearthly expression is said to have emerged from the peat bogs of Islay themselves. Ardbeg Wee Beastie has been described as a ‘monster of a dram’… with a formidable bite. 

Matured in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, Wee Beastie bristles with intense aromas of cracked black pepper, sappy pine resin and sharp tangs of smoke. An explosive mouthfeel bursts forth with chocolate, creosote and tar. As savoury meats sink into the palate, the long salty mouth coating finish slinks away.

Aroma: Very fresh, herbal, with hints of vanilla, pear, freshly cracked black pepper and
honey-glazed ham. Rich Turkish coffee, sappy pine resin. With water, more herbal notes like vetiver and fennel, along with aniseed, green apple and leather.

Taste: A rich, explosive mouthfeel with lots of chocolate, tar, creosote and smoked bacon,
followed by a burst of antiseptic lozenges, eucalyptus and more aniseed.

Finish: A long, salty and mouthcoating finish with hints of cocoa, fudge and savoury meats.

Casks: Ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry

A new addition to the Elements of Islay range, this blended malt consists of only malt whisky from the isle of Islay. It has been matured in a combination of ex Sherry, ex Bourbon and virgin oak casks.

There are notes of bonfire smoke and herbaceous sweet smoke

One of the best examples of unpeated, sherry cask aged whisky available. Super complex, concentrated and balanced. Absolute magic.

NOSE: Fruitcake, toffee, chocolate, rich, preserved cherries, leather, brown sugar, tamarind, salty raisins, sherry, maple, caramel, vanilla nuts, tobacco.

PALATE: Dark chocolate, rum balls, bitter/sweet, apples, prunes, peat, sherry, banana, crème brulee, lovely balance, malt, a little smoke and peat.

FINISH: Salty air, smoke, sweet, rich, burnt forest, saddlery, chalk, medium.
