We took our juicy, signature Single Malt whisky and finished it for a further 18 months in the deliciously peated Scotch barrels from world renowned, Lagavulin Distillery.

Discovering Islay

Nestled on the rugged coast of Scotland, Islay is surrounded by salty seas and big coastal winds. Lagavulin's distinctive Islay malt is influenced by the surrounding climate, reaffirming that the very best whiskies reflect the place they're made.

Aged in Melbourne

Like the climate of Scotland, the Melbourne climate influences the maturation of our whiskies. Melbourne’s notorious four seasons in a day makes our barrels contract and expand, allowing our whisky to dynamically extract all the delicious flavor of the Lagavulin barrels.

Taking inspiration from the Campbeltown Market Cross and the characters emblazoned on it, this release is named for the iconic maritime myth, the Mermaid. Made from unpeated barley and finished in Palo Cortado ex-sherry casks, this is a drier, floral and decidedly coastal expression. A swirling nose of dry seaweed, sea salt gives way to rich apple tart with caramel. The finish is long and with a savoury , coastal undertone.

New Zealand Single Malt

Pokeno Revelation celebrates our unique place in the world. First we carefully select and blend parcels of stock which have been fully matured in first fill bourbon and New Zealand Red Wine casks from one of our favourite wineries. We then lay these back down in cask to allow them to marry perfectly together. It is a sweet and smooth whisky, with beautiful notes of mango, grapefruit, strawberry bonbons, lychee and sherbet, which combine for a sweet and smooth taste of summer.

Completely unpeated (unusual in the highlands), this Glengoyne is soft, fruity and very quaffable. A fine single malt!

Nose: Toffee apples, a little acacia honey, nectarine in syrup and spice, supported by toasted barley in the background.

Palate: Over-ripe grapes, honeyed with hints of vanilla, coconut milk and oak spice. Light touches of chocolate ice-cream.

Finish: Long, oily finish with lingering coffee notes.

Glenglassaugh Distillery produces a medium bodied spirit with a heather-honey sweet style and this particular whisky, was distilled in November 2014 and bottled in August 2021 having spent a lengthy period of ‘finishing’ in a first-fill Oloroso Sherry Quarter Cask.

Colour: Tawny Brown.
Nose: Strawberry fondant, peppery warmth and dark toffee.
Palate: Sweet notes of plum jam, dark chocolate and strawberry tart with the warmth of red peppercorns.
Finish: Great structure and length for a relatively youthful whisky. Rich chocolate covered cranberries.

A beautiful pure pot still whiskey (or "single pot still" as it's now officially known). Redbreast 15 is a rich, thick, sweet, pungent whiskey with loads of flavour and complexity - really good stuff! 

The Signature Series is our four-part limited-edition series.  It is a selection of Arran Single Malts which showcases the diversity of our spirit and embodies the values which are important to us.  It features four unique bottlings specially chosen by Lochranza Distillery Manager Stewart Bowman and given his seal of approval. 

With this bottling, we invite you to learn about the more heavily peated side of Arran matured in a Bourbon Barrel.  The peated level of this bottling sits at 42ppm.

The Quarter Casks used in this bottling were sourced from a small distillery in Chicago – Koval - who use these custom built 115 litre casks to mature their Bourbon before they arrive with us in Lochranza.

The whisky in this bottling was originally filled into Bourbon Barrels in 2012. It was matured for nearly 5 and a half years, before being transferred into the Koval Quarter Casks in September 2018, where it spent the remaining 5 and a half years of its maturation time. We filled only a small number of these Quarter Casks and have not filled any more since. As such, they have a very rare place in our inventory.

Over the course of the secondary maturation, the intensity of the heavily peated whisky has taken on an even more complex and full-bodied character. The smaller the size of cask, the greater the surface contact area between the wood and the spirit, effectively creating an environment for ‘express’ maturation. The resulting whisky has the benefit of more intense flavours which add depth and greater nuance to the final dram. Smokier notes mingle with the well-loved charred citrus and sweet vanilla spices of Arran Single Malt, evoking a bonfire made from barrel staves.

Some of the casks are matured in warehouses that are located further inland. The conditions here affect our maturation climate and help create a rich and smoky tasking style of whisky that we call Land Cask.

Mackinlay's - Shackleton ordered 25 cases of Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky to take on his expedition of 1907.  In 2007, eleven intact bottles containing this perfectly preserved whisky were recovered from under the ice beneath Shackleton's base camp.

This has inspired our Master Blender, Richard Paterson, to create this Shackleton whisky as a personal and deeply felt project.  He has combined the best Highland malt whiskies, allowing them to marry over a long period to create an enigmatic blended malt with a dash of body and a whisper of smoke.  It has complex notes of vanilla, honey and orchard fruits with real warmth and depth at it's heart, like Shackleton himself.

Made with heavily peated barley at the Tobermory distillery, this Ledaig is a very elemental dram, with a raft of mineral and oceanic flavours and aromas. After a sweet and creamy start, Island qualities take over - evoking seaweed, lobster meat and rock pools. A mellow and complex peaty flavour remains at the heart of this dram, earthy and rich with notes of burnt rubber and smoked cheese.
