This Gewurztraminer shows notes of mango, ginger, nutmeg and rose petal on the nose. The palate is powerful, with fruit flavours supporting a smooth flowing structure that lingers in the mouth.

Claudio Fenocchio is the fifth generation of winemakers in the family and succeeded his father Giacomo in running the family business in 1989, triggering debate about modernist versus traditionalists in Barolo. Claudio's approach is different yet again; radical traditionalism. His aim is to make wines that are approachable in youth rather than austere but can also age impressively with time in the bottle.

Outstanding Hawke's Bay Syrah which was first made in the early 1990s from iron rich soils. This makes Bullnose one of the oldest Syrah brands in Hawke's Bay, named after one of the vineyards from which the wine is made (which, in turn, was named after the vineyard owners' love of old cars, particularly the pre 1928 Bullnose). The grapes come from two vineyards, Bullnose and Isosceles, both in the Bridge Pa Triangle; one of the warmer growing areas of Hawke's Bay, thanks to both soil and climate there.

The father-daughter winemaking team, John and Beth Forrest, are champions of lesser known, outstandingly interesting grape varieties from around the world, including Petit Manning.

 Löwenbräu is still produced in Munich, Germany. This best selling German Beer has a refreshing yet characteristic taste. With it being slightly dry, spicy, with a trace of malt and delicately bitter, it makes for the most moorish taste.

Oude Gueuze (ABV 6%) from traditional lambic producer Hanssens Artisanaal is a Gueuze Lambic that pours hazy orange-gold with an off white head.

Lambics of several vintages are blended, then receive a secondary fermentation in the bottle, which is cellared for a minimum of six months.

The strong, tart, funky aroma contains notes of earthy wood, cut hay, lemon, sour apple and vanilla. The taste is assertively, intensely tart, with flavors of rhubarb and citrus augmented by earthy, nutty notes. Crisp, refreshing and bracing, with relative dryness and high carbonation, this is a great example of the Belgian Gueuze.

Rittenhouse Bottled in Bond Rye Whisky is not only an excellent spirit, but also remarkable value. Named "North American Whiskey of the Year" at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, it was awarded a double gold medal by all judges in a blind tasting and then beat every other gold medal winner. The evocatively named Central Otago winery, Wooing Tree, is as famous for its pink wines as for its full bodied Pinot Noirs. Tickled Pink is a light rosé, made 100% from Pinot Noir as a sweet wine. Flavours of strawberries, red berries and honey are well balanced by refreshing acidity, which adds length and zestiness to this wine. It's a great match with soft creamy cheese as well as with your favourite pudding.
