Unit price perVINEYARD - The fruit for this wine was selected from a small single vineyard on the Waipara Valley floor with soils consisting of Glasnevin gravels.
SOIL TYPE - Glasnevin gravels
WINEMAKING - The fruit was harvested late and hand sorted in the winery. Pressed off slowly, the juice was allowed to spontaneously start fermentation. It was then fermented slowly in cool conditions in small stainless steel tanks.
TASTING NOTES - Gloriously rich and opulent, the bouquet shows dried apricot, Makuna honey, marmalade and rich floral characters. The palate displays outstanding concentration and depth, wonderfully enhanced by lavish sweetness and creamy mouthfeel, making it unctuous and irresistible. Sam Kim – Wine Orbit

Unit price perThe Prophet’s Rock Pinot Gris comes from both the Home and Rocky Point vineyards. Planting in these warmer areas of Central Otago and practising careful viticulture allows for the production of a very aromatic style of Pinot Gris, while retaining the trademark freshness of the region. This wine has achieved an avid following and wide acclaim, despite very limited production.
The vinification is heavily influenced by winemaker Paul Pujol's time in Alsace where use of wild yeast, multiple small vessels and long ageing are the norm. After long slow ferments the various components are aged on their yeast lees before bottling.

Unit price perThe seemingly maverick wines of Domaine Marcel Deiss pay homage to historical field blends made in Alsace, France; a region steeped in controversial history between France and Germany, countries which have both fought and both won (and lost) ownership of this territory. This is why the wines in Alsace are made from grapes more commonly associated with Germany, such as this interesting white - a dry Muscat, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.
This wine is made from vines planted in 1997 at a density of 2,000 per hectare on steep terraced, south facing slopes of shallow, granite soil.
The grapes in this wine were hand picked, fermented with natural yeasts and aged for 12 months in large, ancient foudres.
Like all wines of Domaine Marcel Deiss, this one has cult status with wine collectors and drinkers alike so we are thrilled to have a wide range of them back in store, only they are in limited supply, so if you're a fan or a curious newcomer, get in quick.
Domaine Marcel Deiss is located in Bergheim, a small village nestling in the heart of the wine region of Alsace, equal distance from the northern and southern boundaries of the region. The current winemaker is Jean-Michel Deiss, who was born into a long-established family of wine growers, living at Bergheim since 1744.
Today he manages the domaine, which consists of 26 hectares (52 acres) of hillside vineyards spread over nine communes and approximately 20 kilometres.

Unit price perSam Neill?s latest Pinot Noir is youthful, bright, boldly fruity with firm tannic structure and the ability to age, all of which makes it a good contender for decanting prior to enjoying right now. It?s a complex and interesting Pinot Noir as a blend of Neill?s four small certified organic Central Otago vineyards with 37% from The Fusilier Vineyard in Bannockburn, 7% from the elevated, cool climate of The Last Chance Vineyard in Earnscleugh, Alexandra, 40% from The Red Bank Farm & Vineyard and 22% from The First Paddock in Gibbston. All grapes were hand picked, 54% destemmed and all fermented with wild yeasts. The wine was given 10 months aging in French oak, 18 per cent new. It?s a very good wine and will reward further cellaring.
