The Trappist Monks know how to turn a beer into a Sacrament. Belgian Dubbels are brown ales harking back to the pre-industrial era, before blond ales were known. It was customary for an Abbot to offer hospitality to pilgrims visiting his monastery, in an age where it could be lethal to drink the water. Monks would serve a brown ale much like this beer to tired travellers to refresh and sustain them, only drinking it themselves on special feast days. Our beer is “double strength”, as opposed to table beers, that would be drunk all day. A mellow combination of chocolate and biscuit flavours, balanced with a generous handful of noble hops and rounded off with a famous estery Wallonian Abbey yeast, makes for an almost too easy drinking beer. Mon Dieu! Be careful, it’s stronger than it seems.

Vintage 15 year umeshu 720ml

Rich and decadent, with deep caramelly notes, and a dark amber colour, all from the 15 year ageing process.

Made using only nanko variety ume plums from orchards in Wakayama Prefecture, which the Nakano Brewery sourced especially to produce this umeshu.

Enjoy on the rocks, with soda, or drizzle a tablespoon over vanilla ice-cream.

Shikuwasa citrus umeshu 720ml

Shikuwasa is a citrus from Okinawa, with an acidic flavour profile similar to limes. This umeshu is infused with real shikuwasa juice.

The result is a balance between the sweetness of umeshu and the zesty acidity of the shikuwasa citrus.

Conmpared to the yuzu umeshu, the flavour profile of this umeshu is lighter and more subtle.

Pale Ale brewed with a mix of NZ and US hops.Back in the day, Whare Matangi, estranged son of Ngarue, was given a magic dart, or tara, that would lead him to his father. After a few throws the tara hit Ngarue’s house at the mouth of the river. The place became known as Te Whai-tara uni-a-Ngarue, or Waitara. Our own Magic Dart aims for an American-style golden ale with a combo of US and kiwi hops combining sweet stonefruit and tropical aromas.

Crisp and clean like a snowball to the face is how we describe our pilsner. Different to classic European pilsners but with the heritage of all imported malts to create that signature flavour and mouthfeel. Called an NZ pilsner as it is hopped with all NZ varieties that scream to be shown, the riwaka and nelson sauvin show a medly of grape and passionfruit with a lime zing. Light to medium bodied with the creamy mouthfeel of well brewed german malts and a crisp refreshing bitterness to quench the thirst. Winner of a gold medal at 2021 brewers guild awards.

Hand Bottled Limited Edition

Collaboration No. 3 with Heyday Beer Co. from Wellington brings us a winter warmer of ultra-traditional heritage. Brewed on the winter solstice of 2024 this is a rich and malt forward Pale Ale for sipping on dark winter evenings. A traditional French farmhouse style usually brewed in winter and bottle-aged until the following winter or even longer for full maturation and enjoyment. Our version is dark copper in colour and incorporates three different rye malts giving a spicy dry feel to this beautiful style. Drink now or keep for up to 3 years.

Hot, dry, long and reliable. And that's just the vintage conditions in Hawke's Bay in 2020. This wine is a beautiful expression of a warm vintage with a long summer. Flavours here include blackberry, spice and liquorice which combine to produce a fruit dominant but complex wine. A small inclusion of the white variety Viognier gives the wine beautiful perfume and allows the wine more accessibility while young.

Part of Signatory's all new 'Small Batch' series, this expression of Aberfeldy has been selected from a range of ex Oloroso sherry casks. There is a lovely combination of both light and dark fruits, with notes of peaches as well as sultanas, cherries and vibrant red fruits. This fruitiness is balanced with notes of cedar wood, cocoa powder and hints of waxiness.

This is a limited-edition Ardnamurchan from indie bottler Adelphi, matured in a pair of sherry casks for five years that were hand selected by Charles MacLean and Alex Bruce (hence the M&B). A fresh and clean dram with plenty of complexity where you will find notes of orchard fruit, lemongrass and honeysuckle giving way to stewed fruits and walnut - all complexed by subtle hints of peat.
