An ongoing series of occasional one-off releases inspired by the nice ideas captured in our Lyall Bay Brewery.

 José Luis Ripa is a fan of more 'serious' rosés (think Pibarnon, Trevallon, Tempier and the poster child of extended ageing Viña Tondonia).  His day job is commercial director at a well known winery in Haro, but in 2016 he managed to get hold of some old-vine fruit from the Najerilla Valley, a tributary of the Ebro, and made his first vintage of Ripa Rosado. The wine is mainly Garnacha with a touch of Tempranillo, the must is drawn-off slowly, then fermented and aged for 18-24 months in large oak vats, called bocoyes in Rioja. He only made 3,000 bottles in the first year, he's gradually increasing that, without losing the artisan vision of the project. After all, he has his wife María José López de Heredia to keep him focused!

A little deeper and probably more lactic than the 2019, but a little less exuberant. There are more dried herbs and minerals, with dried grapefruit and a touch of Aperol. Unique in style, which makes you think of a young Lopez de Heredia rosado (and you wouldn't be surprised if you find who makes this). Textured, full and harmonious despite higher alcohol. Cheerful and unassuming at the same time.

Sinker has, yep you guessed it, depth. With a clean malt base and a touch of Gladiator and Wheat for body, the NZ and US Hops have a solid foundation to shimmer upon. Plunge into Riwaka, Motueke, Kohatu, El dorado Eukanot and Idaho 7 for citrus, tropical, stone fruit and berry flavours.

A golden peach lambic with a sparkling appearance and fruity taste. Taste: Golden in colour; with a nose that fills the room with fresh peaches. Sparkling, crisp and refreshing balance of fruit and acid.

We love our American cousins. But sometimes they can be kind of full on. So we've crafted this beer to more British Tastes. Hoppy, fruity and dry, ours is a drinkable 4%. Made with American hops, just less shouty.

7% - West Coast Cold IPA

Cold WCIPA, IPL, California Pils, call it what you like, cold fermentation and new Hāpi Research hop variety NZ05, Southern Cross, Peacharine and Mosaic, delivers massive luscious tropical fruit aromatics and crisp, clean, punchy bitterness.

Britannia rules the hazy as Mancunian masters of hoppiness, Track, join us for Many Moons. New Hāpi Research hop variety NZ02, Freestyle Peacharine and Rakau meld seamlessly in a smooth, session strength pale ale, dripping with passionfruit icing, sweet orange and sun ripened stone fruit.

We’re getting back to basics with Poland’s craft beer pioneers Pinta. See you on the Flipside, unapologetically old school West Coast IPA, with a contemporary twist courtesy of new Hāpi Research hop variety NZ17 with Freestyle Nelson Sauvin and Riwaka, delivering bold bitterness, punchy white grapefruit, mango, passionfruit and lime, all with a subtle sativa twist.
