The Sawmill Aotearoa series is about celebrating the best of New Zealand! 

This month we teamed up with Brave Brewing Co to celebrate what they do best - bold brilliant IPAs. It’s a meeting of minds, brewed with respect and a whole lot of hops. 

NZH-106, Nelson Sauvin and Kohatu hops give this IPA passionfruit, tropical and a winey aroma. A clean, crisp flavour with a full-bodied fruity finish. 

Here’s to New Zealand brewers, standing behind every good beer.

Grapefruit Hazy Pale Ale

Loaded with grapefruit, this punchy hazy pale ale is juicy and extremely refreshing!

Collaborating with international yeast laboratoire, Lallemand, is a bucket list tick. We've gone extra funky and messed around with sequential pitching of multiple strains of yeast to create a tart golden saison flavoured with pressed Gewurztraminer skins and rosewater. The clear gold pour presents mad complex floral aromas with a grapey fruitiness and some mild spicy fermentation aromas unique to the style. A dry and crisply refreshing palate is balanced with spritzy carbonation and a long tart finish.

CORDOBA HAZY DOUBLE IPA

Sink deep into this juicy, full-bodied hazy double IPA that hits like a tropical fruit salad with notes of crushed berries, mango, passionfruit, peach and grapefruit from the Mosaic, Citra and Strata hops. Creamy and drinking smooth as silk from the addition of golden oats to the grain bill, this beer brings a luxurious refreshment with every sip.

CHULA IMPERIAL PILSNER

Notes of white grapes, gooseberry, citrus and passionfruit from the Nelson Sauvin, Hallertau Blanc and Riwaka hops. Balanced by a light malt bill and Champagne yeast dry finish.

American Style Brown Ale 5.7%

Salted Caramel Stout 6% - 440ml Can

Rich, creamy and velvety with layered notes of caramel, coffee and roasted malts balanced by a delicate saline edge that lingers on the finish. Decadent yet well-rounded and full-bodied from the addition of oats to the grain bill, this beer is full-flavoured and delicious - the perfect mid-winter treat.

First Press 14 Grapefruit & Lime Hazy IPA 5.7% - 440ml Can

Rich, juicy and luxurious, this IPA goes down like a fresh fruit cocktail with zesty aromatics of grapefruit, lime, mango and stone fruit from the Azacca hops. Loaded with oats and wheat for an ultra-creamy mouthfeel, those bright fruity notes balance this beer perfectly - refreshing, soft and outrageously drinkable.

APPLE & FEIJOA CRUMBLE SOUR

Apple and Feijoa just go together. Sweet, tart and juicy with impeccable good taste.
Add a sprinkle of brown sugar, a dash of cinnamon and a few drops of vanilla balanced by a biscuity malt base and you’ve got this fruity and delicious dessert-style sour beer.

There's an elemental darkness at the heart of this massive Black Barley and Rye Wine. You can feel it wafting rich, dark fruit up from the glass with powerful overtones of tobacco and bourbon. Like its stable mate The Vandal, Black Sabbath is inspired by a famous John Reid-built kiwi hot rod, but at the same time we think its strength and uncompromising character also pay considerable tribute to the rock and roll originators of the name.

8.0% - Strawberry Oat Cream IPA

It’s a fruit filled, full cream trip in every sip. Pink Milk, strawberry Oat Cream IPA, brewed with a double dose of creamy lactose sugar, strawberry puree, dragonfruit, vanilla and careful blend of HBC1019, Galaxy, Luminosa and Sabro hops. Absurdly smooth and juicy sweet, balanced with strawberry, bubblegum, coconut and tropical fruit hops. Udderly delicious!

5.2% - NZ Stout

Back in black. Iron Pig, New Zealand stout. Brewed using only the finest Canterbury malt and specially roasted barley, balanced with a shot of old school Green Bullet hops. Rich, satisfying, full flavoured stout with underlying notes of chocolate, coffee and toasted nuts. An instant classic.
