Waipara is a world-class wine region just down the road, where both of our brewers previously worked as winemakers. It also translates to murky or muddy water which is a pretty apt name for a New England IPA.

After a long period of trialing hop combinations, we’ve finally settled on our favourite match. This brew is hopped with Citra, Taiheke and Nectaron, which we believe bring all the sweet citrus and tropical fruit character we love in hazy beers, whilst still finishing clean and crisp.

Pacific Punch West Coast IPA- 440ml can- 6.3% abv

A clean, dry malt base built on Gladfield Pilsner sets the stage for the hops to shine. Generous additions of Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin deliver bold, fruit-forward hop character, layered with hints of pine and a touch of dank resin. The finish is crisp and assertively bitter, true to the West Coast style.

It seemed apt to name our Pilsner after the home of Pilsner beer; the Czech Republic.

However, this is a very kiwi take on the Czech classic, due to unconventional dry-hopping. The Saaz and Wakatu dominated hop blend creates a floral Pilsner with a crisp, refreshing palate.

COFFEE STOUT

Blackbeard Coffee Stout is a result of a long term relationship with our friends and neighbours from Little Drum Coffee. We used huge amounts of carefully hand selected Brazilian single origin coffee beans, along with dark speciality malts. To deliver espresso flavours and aromas with hints of bitter dark chocolate and toffee with medium but rich complex body.

A perfect beer to enjoy not only on colder winter nights but all year around, for all of the coffee and dark beer lovers out there!

Porter is the oldest commercially brewed style and London Porter was Emerson’s first beer. Dark, dry and mellow with some hoppy characteristics, pours a deep brown colour with reddish tints. The aroma is toasty, with a hint of sweetness and some earthy hop notes. Firm-bodied but not heavy, with a creamy texture, the dryish palate is full of roasted malt, coffeeish notes and a sustained bitterness.

PALE ALE

Made for the heros of summer, the sober drivers we wanted to give these boys and girls the full flavour and full bodied ale experience they deserve, but with only a wee bit of alcohol. So this hop forward treat is for you guys. Cheers!

MAXIMUS XX WCIPA 6.8%

A flash back to 2009, the original Maximus IPA recipe before the good American hops ran out. Loads of mid boil hops for huge hop flavour and excessive bitterness. Then dry hoped to within an inch of your life. A tribute to the good old days when IPAs were bitter and malt was still cool.

Tasting Note: This isn’t just a beer. This is a full-throttle Citra/Mosaic/Simcoe war cry, echoing with citrus lightning and tropical thunder. Expect an intoxicating aroma of crushed pineapple, candied grapefruit, and a flash of dank resin—like a jungle fruit bowl served on a Viking shield. That first sip strikes with juicy hop oils—grapefruit zest, passionfruit flesh, and a whisper of pine sap. A sturdy malt backbone holds the line, offering a subtle caramel sweetness before the bitterness surges like a bat

Tasting Note: Chaos Fog 4000 is a full-throttle celebration of Mosaic, Mosaic, and more Mosaic — triple-dosed in the whirlpool, dry hop, and then dry-hopped again for good measure. It detonates with layers of blueberry, mango, peach, dank tropical resin, and that unmistakable Mosaic “glow” that feels both fruity and slightly wild. A soft blend of pale malt, oats, and wheat wraps the hops in a pillowy haze, giving the beer its silky mouthfeel and electric fruit saturation.

2 each of Golden Path, Chipper and Hazy Pernicious Weed

Tantric Haze Hazy IPA was brewed to be as tantalizing and as rich of an experience possible. We knew we needed overwhelming fruity aromas so decided to ensure this had a massive double whirlpool hopping followed by a triple dryhopping starting on the first day of fermentation and continuing throughout until our yeasts had given all they could. 

We wanted a soft and supple bitterness that was enough to balance but gentle and forgiving thus we massaged our water chemistry. We didn't want to overpower the aroma and flavour the hops had to give, thus did not add any hops for the bittering into the boil. 

Lastly we needed a yeast that had the power to biotransform the massive hop quantities into a bold rich juiciness. Any element by itself is not standalone worthy but altogether combine into this sensually hazy IPA that we believe will deliver you an experience of love and enjoyment!

7.0 % ABV.

6.2% - Fresh hopped hazy harvest IPA

Fresh hopped, hazy, harvest IPA. A juicy blend of Nelson Sauvin & Rakau hops, all picked on the same day at Freestyle hop farm, half of the harvest was rushed still wet from the field to the Garage and plunged straight into this beer, the other half was quickly dried and added to the fermenter. The result is a beer overflowing with lush citrus, resinous pine and tropical fruit. Just New Zealand grown hops at their harvest fresh best.

A frothy homage to our woolly ‘dog’ Willa (RIP, ewe beauty!), this is a classic NZ-style pilsner crafted in a proper lager style. Late-hopped with Riwaka & Wai-iti, you’ll pick up sage, capsicum & peach aromas. Palate is dry & crisp over soft mouthfeel with tidy bitterness. It’s a clean, quaffable brew
