AROMATIC pungency.

This Planet Ardbeg Day, new and existing committee members are invited to step
into Planet Ardbeg and join Agent 46 to solve the mystery of the missing purifier,
helping to restore the balance before it’s too late.

NOSE - The nuanced aroma reveals  whiffs of sweet cereals, fresh  oak and pipe tobacco with  touches of leather, nutmeg and  vanilla.

PALATE - The Original Cask  Strength is sweet and  spicy with notes of vanilla,  toffee and sea salt along  with hints of cinnamon  and pepper. Long finish with lingering spice,  oak tannins, iodine and sea salt. 

FINISH - Long finish with lingering spice,  oak tannins, iodine and sea salt.

The Finlaggan range features single malt Scotch whisky from an undisclosed Islay distillery, bottled by the Vintage Malt Whisky Company. The range has seen a few expansions in recent years - this early 2016 release has enjoyed a finishing period in port casks, resulting in yummy, wine-like sweetness blending with the smoky, coastal peat.

• Matured in American White Oak ex-bourbon barrels for 12 years and finished in Oloroso Sherry casks from Jerez, Spain
• Tasting Notes: A refined succulent trpical nose with aromas of chocolate, walnut and citrus fruit coming forward. Flavours of honey, salted bananas and brown sugar, with a whisper of smoke

Part of the distillery's 2020 packacking refresh, Loch Lomond Original is the entry-level bottling from this Highlander. Elegant yet full bodied with a hint of peat.

40% ABV 

This is the core expression of 10 year old Ballechin single malt Scotch whisky, which is heavily peated whisky from Edradour. It has been named for the silent Ballechin distillery near the Edradour distillery. Releases under the Ballechin name from Edradour were previously presented as part of The Discovery Series, many of which were matured in different types of casks, including Sherry, bourbon and a selection of wine casks. This 10 year old expression, however, comes from a combination of ex-Oloroso Sherry and ex-bourbon casks.

Nose: Oily malt, whiffs of burnt ends and BBQ char, a few touches of apple and fig.

Palate: Chewy dates and oak, with smouldering peat bringing spicy heat to the palate.

Finish: A hint of ash sticks around on the finish.

This single malt from the Yamazaki distillery is full of red berry notes gained from the whisky's maturation in Bordeaux wine and Sherry casks. It also features malt matured in Mizunara casks which add subtle fragrant oak notes.

A unique whisky made from imported Scottish peated malt which spends 2 years in madeira casks, then 6 years in mizunara casks. 

This is light, clean and fruity with aromas of apple, white grape, lingering cigar smoke, coconut macaroons, and ample Japanese oak influence. Apple and watermelon flavors appear on the palate, developing a more sugary fruitiness of candy, all brushed with gentle spice and a swish of smoke.

Kaiyo is a negotiant bottler started by a drinks group led by former Asahi employee Mr. Watanabe who was able to purchase "teaspooned" malt whisky barrels from an unnamed Japanese whisky supplier via his connections in the industry ("teaspooning" is when a distiller adds a teaspoon of another whisky into the barrel before selling it, thus preventing the purchaser from claiming it as a single malt from that distillery). The whiskies are purchased as teaspooned new make (unaged distillates) and then put into Japanese Mizunara oak barrels from Ariake, considered one of the best manufacturers in the world.

A fruity, zesty and softly-smoky Japanese whisky, matured in mizunara oak casks. Aromas of orange peel, jasmine, soft cedar and coastal air fill the nose. The palate offers notes of earthy coffee, green apples, black tea and fresh herbs, with hints of cinnamon pastries and mango that linger in the finish.

This was a surprise when it was released in 2018 as the distillery was closed from 1993 onwards and finally dismantled in the early 2000s. It was matured in refill American oak hogsheads and bottled at a cask strength 52.1% and the result is a lively vibrant expression with pastry, green apples and coconuts at the fore. Always a pleasure to sample  malt from a ghost distillery knowing that nothing quite like it will ever be produced again.

The latest batch of Wormtub has arrived, an intense sherry cask finished whisky from an undisclosed distillery in Speyside. Named after a wormtub condenser, which is the traditional equipment used to return the spirit vapour back to a liquid during distillation. This is a hearty dram, opening with a rush of black forest gateaux, rum & raisin truffle balls and booze-soaked cherries. Notes of caramelized orange and walnut tannin add a dryness, with the palate being sweet, weighty and long with the flavour of hot fudge sauce.

This delicious American style whisky is made from 51% corn, 21% rye and 28% Barley. Matured in our oceanside barrel house, it has a grassy, spicy tone with a distinct Rye note. Look for notes of toasted oak, spices and vanilla. Cream corn and smooth caramel finishes with a hint of rye bite.

Introducing Allier. A celebration of NZ single malt whisky and one of the most important French Oak forests: Allier. 

This whisky is made from unsmoked New Zealand grown malted barley and has been matured in a second fill wine cask from the Allier forest, central France. Initial grape notes from the wine have been pulled off in the first fill. What’s left, and what has been imparted is beautifully smooth, balanced, and compliments the malty NZ whisky.

The bottling is giving generous notes of pain aux raisin, dark chocolate, custard, hazelnut.
