Southward Distilling Co. - There is a place where adventure starts.  This wild place is the inspiration for our distillery.  Made up of garden grown, wild and traditional botanicals. We are a modern take on distilling inspired by the wild beauty of New Zealand.

Hastings Distillers was formed in 2019 by Kate Galloway and David Ramonteu, an inspiring couple with a background in winemaking and an artistic philosophy of production. Their award winning spirits are inspired as much by artists such as Tolstoy, Steiner and Tuwhare as by their scientific backgrounds in winemaking. The pair created the wine brands Alluviale and DaDa in a prior lifetime, before travelling through Europe and decided to marry distillation with therapeutic herbs. The result is a range of spirits using foraged, organic and biodynamic botanicals, pure organic spirit and water. Learn more about their story, taste the products and take some home from a visit. 

Biogro Certified 

Hastings Distillers commitment to organics is shown in their Biogro certification, ensuring all aspects of their production (botanicals, alcohol, water, packaging) has been checked, audited and certified by New Zealand’s largest certification agency. 

Packaging

The transparent seal on their bottles is made from environmentally friendly, compostable cellulose. The bottles themselves and label paper are made by long established European manufacturers under EU environmental regulations.

London Dry

Historically, the term London Dry relates to the production methods. This dictates that the Gin must be made from pure 96% ABV neutral spirit of agricultural origin, all botanical flavour must be imparted through distillation and nothing can be added after, the Gin must be dry. While their Gins adhere to the law governing this term, they are a modern, unconventional interpretation of the classical style.

Tasting note: A bold and aromatic Gin containing 10 Organic botanicals, of which 9 are from Hawke’s Bay. Batch distilled in our 150L Arnold Holstein still and cut to strength with Kaweka spring water. Top notes of citrus and juniper. Angelica root and Kaffir lime bring floral hints and complex herbal notes.

Serving note: Perfect for a fresh Gin and tonic or a smooth addition to any Martini or cocktail.

Southward Distilling is a Wellington based company turning fresh New Zealand grown ingredients into deliciously refreshing spirits. This blood orange gin has a beautifully balanced bitterness from orange peel combined with the sweetness of the juice come together to form a taste of refreshing citrus, balanced by a background of juniper. Its vibrant colour is perfect for summer gin and tonics.

It's not a classic London dry gin, but a vision of what a NZ dry gin can be - smooth, bushy & dry.

On the nose this gin is weighed down by kawakawa while the citrus notes of lemon, orange, and grapefruit light up your olfactory bulb. Thyme lurks in the background. On tasting, the kawakawa is still predominant, but the thyme comes to the fore along with layers of sage, liquorice, and tarata, which binds all these aromas together. There is a long liquorice and citrus finish.

This gin is a mix of traditional herbs from the Mediterranean and Aotearoa, blending the culinary histories of Julien and Michael.

Midori really is one of the most versatile liqueurs.Midori mixes well with juices, spirits and liqueurs.Many kinds, in many ways. Just use your imagination!Midori is made with melons, but it's just enough sweetness to make cocktails more drinkable, without drowning out other ingredients. Sticky sweet, it?s not.Midori's unique taste and great mixability make ordinary cocktails into stand-outsand creative cocktails even more extraordinary.

On the nose there’s toffee and crushed petals, buttercups in the sunshine and the hum of beehives. 

Once you taste it, warm honey runs across your tongue, the distinctive ether of elderflowers anaesthetises your palate and engages your olfactory machinery leaving you reminiscing of grazes on sunburnt knees.

Maraska Maraschino liqueur has been made from Marasca cherries since the beginning of the 16th century. The export of Maraschino Liqueur started towards the end of the 18th Century. This original cherry liqueur has conquered the world in the past 200 years. Among the fruits grown around the picturesque city of Zadar, a special kind of Sour Cherry is cultivated that has brought world fame to this area.

Maraska Maraschino liqueur is produced from the distillates of the Dalmatian marasca tart cherries and is known all over the world because of its typical sweet taste and the aromatic fragrance of sweet cherries. Many international famous chefs use Maraska Maraschino liqueur in order to add a special flavour to cakes, cremes, or frostings, as well as fruit salads.

Serve it in small liqueur glasses to accompany home-baked pastry and fresh-brewed coffee.

This peach macerated liqueur offers great purity and intensity of fruit flavour. This is a perfect drink for enjoying on ice, blended with white wine or in a cocktail.

The NZ Rum Co. is here to push the boundaries and change the way we think about Rum.  We’ve thrown the molasses overboard and made it from natural sugar cane Jaggery, the result a clean fresh finish.  Not only are we creating a new taste experience, but we’re also proud to be distilling locally, right here in New Zealand.

Cassissée Creme de Cassis Liqueur 700ml 1PK @

Cassis is the French term for "black currant". Crème de Cassis de Dijon is a liqueur made from black currants. In France, the term "crème" stands for a liqueur with a particularly thick consistency and aconcentrated, full flavor.

"Cassis de Dijon" is a protected designation of origin for a cassis produced exclusively in Dijon, according to the strict regulations of the capital of cassis. Cassis de Dijon must be made from fresh fruit, while cassis from other provenances must also be made with fruit juices, concentrates, aromas etc. In addition, berries from countries outside France must not be used.

The quality of Cassis de Dijon also depends on various important factors: the quality and integrity of the whole fresh fruit, the types of berries used, the level of the Fruit content, the know-how and the cellar techniques of the producer Cassissée (16% vol.) is made exclusively from whole, freshly harvested black currants.
