Malfy Gin CON ARANCIA is distilled by the Vergnano family in Italy - the birthplace of Gin - using the peel of Sicilian Blood Oranges, Italian Juniper and four other botanicals with their traditional Vacuum Still.  Blood Oranges are prized variety in Sicily - and harvested in November - their rich red colour develops from the cool Mediterranean nights.

As a higher ABV gin, there's more botanical flavour in the bottle. It's a botanical blast of flavour with a luxurious mouthfeel. 

Developed through meticulous bartender and consumer feedback, Southern Strength Gin uses our Triple Juniper process and elevates the lemon peel, coriander seed and angelica root.

It uses exactly the same number of botanicals as Triple Juniper Gin, just in different ratios.

Our distillery is located in South Australia and this particular gin is richer than most, sitting at 52% ABV, giving inspiration for the name 'Southern Strength'

A medium level of clouding occurs when mixed due to elevated botanical oils.

The Cotswolds Distillery in Stourton is up and running - hooray! This is their Cotswolds Dry Gin, made with juniper, coriander and angelica root macerated in their pure wheat spirit for 24 hours. Following this, they add a botanical selection including bay leaf, grapefruit, lime, black pepper, cardamom seed and Cotswolds lavender to their carter head still for distillation. To bring it down to bottling strength, a robust 46% ABV, they use naturally refined Cotswolds water.

Nose: Light, floral juniper blends well with the Cotswolds lavender. This soon gives way to the vibrant grapefruit peel and warming cardamom.

Palate: Opening with grapefruit, fresh juniper and black pepper, followed by herbaceous notes of bay leaf, coriander and angelica. More lavender brings a bright, delicate character to the full-bodied gin.

Finish: Refreshingly clean on the palate, with lime and bay leaf.

Stroh 80% 700ml

This one from Stroh weighs in at a hefty 80% alc/vol and is limited to 500ml bottles. Stroh is unusual in that is distilled from herbs and fruit, as opposed to sugar cane and will come as something of a novelty for the rum connoisseur or maybe equally appreciated as a cough soother. The unmistakable aroma of Stroh makes it indispensable for the creation of typical Austrian sweet dishes.

TASTING NOTE

Deep sienna brown / old copper colour. The penetrating aroma opens with notes of caramelised onion and burnt herbs. Aeration draws out a sweet core of over-cooked fruits while the spirit prickles the nostrils. The palate is bitter and tannic on entry before an achingly intense, prickly and hot, bitter-sweet attack; hints of toasted almond and fruit cake are followed by a touch of a rubber band on the finish. The tongue piercing spice and spirit heat continue to flame the mouth well into the aftertaste, turning bone dry as the fruit cake flavours fade. Lip numbing, and just way too much spirit heat to make this enjoyable straight.

ABV: 80% 

A botanical gin, small batch distilled. Infused with Elderberries & Mint Tips, along with locally foraged Wild Thyme, Manuka and Douglas Fir.

San Francisco World Spirits Competition: Gold Medal 2021

What happens when you bring two masters of the art of whisk(e)y making together to collaborate? Astonishingly delicious things, apparently. Legent Bourbon is the work of Jim Beam master distiller Fred Noe and House of Suntory chief blender Shinji Fukuyo. The whiskey itself is a bourbon made with one of Fred Noe's recipes, which is aged initially in charred virgin white oak. Following this, portions are finished in California red wine casks and sherry casks, before being blended by Shinji Fukuyo. Fantastic results ensued.

Nose: Plenty of classic bourbon character is at the forefront of the nose but the cask influence adds balance and depth. Brown sugar, toasted almonds, jammy fruits, butterscotch, vanilla and orange peel combine initially, with delicate warmth and spice provided from ginger root underneath. A hint of Pinot Noir and stewed black cherry emerge as the nose develops, with milk chocolate, sandalwood and hints of leather.

Palate: An initially deliciously silky delivery leads with rich caramel, floral notes and a suggestion of marmalade before chewy rye spice initially makes things more complex among savoury notes of roasted peanuts and a slightly bitter quality from charred wood, coffee beans and unsweetened dark chocolate. Dark cherry jam and stewed plums then burst through adding vibrant fruitiness alongside the sweetness of vanilla, cake batter, muscovado sugar and a hint of cola. Warmth from freshly-ground black pepper is present in the backdrop.

Finish: Chocolate-covered cherries, black fruits, sugary cereals (Sugar Puffs, mostly) and a hint of liquorice fade ever so gradually; while the nutmeg and oak spices play about for longer.
