Hayman's - Unlike other LONDON DRY GINS available today, our is distilled by hand to a 150 year old Family recipe using a tradtional two-day process.  The gentle process creates a classically balanced Gin bursting with fresh Juniper, bright Citrus and a subtle warming spice.  It takes a little longer but we believe it is worth it.

Using the same meticulous techniques, the Vodka characteristics come from a wheat based neutral grain spirit and artisanal waters. Purity is not born through triple distillation, more so the flavour comes from the honest approach.

INITIAL AROMA

Bright & pure with a hint of cereal to round off a somewhat clean & creamy aroma.

PALATE

Velvety texture, clean and balanced, initial push of dry wheat with apple, rolling into creaming soda finish. Small amount of heat.

FINISH

Final palate is viscous and creamy, rounded off with a pavlova like sweetness and rose like floral note. Slight acidity and balanced ABV helps to keep the length in the finish.

Made from the delicious Marula fruit of sub-Equatorial Africa, the Marula spirit is distilled and aged in French oak for two years. It is then blended with our velvety cream to create the smooth taste of Amarula - best savoured over ice, preferably with a view. On the wide-open plains of Africa grows a tree uncultivated by man. The marula tree, or ‘Sclerocarya Birrea’, only grows in one area on the entire planet – the warm, frost-free regions of subequatorial Africa. It holds a position of importance both in the animal kingdom and in human legend and ritual, and it is from the fruit of this mystical tree that Amarula cream is borne.

The Reid brothers have backgrounds in engineering and winemaking, both of which gave their curious minds something related to work with when they began distilling gin. Reid + Reid gin has all the usual botanicals, coriander, juniper, lemons and more, but it is the addition of distinctly New Zealand botanicals that make it unique. The brothers like to think it's as much a celebration of great gin as a nod to New Zealand's fauna. In this case they've used manuka, kawakawa and horopito. It's a dry, refreshing gin, particularly suited to a long G & T, with plenty of ice and a twist of lemon.

BlackSpot Rum has bountiful, deep flavour neat or on the rocks.  Mixes superbly with cocktails, refreshes over ice with ginger beer or ale and a squeeze of lime or try BlackSpot and coconut water.

During his time in Scotland, Charles Edward Stuart would carry with him a mysterious draught, from which he would drink a few drops every day. Nobody knew for certain what this formula was; only that it had been created by the Royal Apothecary. The apothecary would have imbued the drink with protective properties. He must have chosen Cloves - a dried flower bud of an Indonesian tree. This aromatic spice is still used for its powerful analgesic properties. Only the most prized spices would have been used. Many are convinced that saffron was the main ingredient. Not only was it renowned for its medical and sedative properties, but it would also have given the drink its rich golden colour. The secret selection of herbs, spices and Scottish heather honey is then infused by hand into the Scotch whisky base. Malts from the Speyside andHighland regions, renowned for their softness and smoothness, are used to complement the herbs and spices of the elixir. One of our staff reckons this is his secret weapon of seduction. Bearing that in mind I was reluctant to try it for fear of falling into his web, but when I did I found it goes wonderfully with a martini and even drizzled on top of plain vanilla ice cream.; A great gift for any would-be lothario or temptress.

For this, "The Botanist", small-batch, artisanal Islay gin we use nine of the classic gin aromatics; orris root, cassia bark, coriander seed, etc and augment these with a heady harvest of 22 wild, native island botanicals, hand-picked by our expert foraging team from the windswept hills, peat bogs and Atlantic shores of this Hebridean island of Islay.

This truly seasonal and exotic cocktail is then slow "simmer" distilled in our unique and cherished Lomond pot-still, "ugly betty". Betty prefers to work at low-pressure and won't be rushed. 

So our precious botanicals are slowly and gently coaxed into releasing their complex, signature aromatics. This was a unique project for our head distiller, Jim McEwan. Jim says he had to "learn a new dance" with Betty, and none of us knew what to expect from that first, achingly-slow 17 hour distillation. The result: a highly distinctive, complex, floral gin with outstanding finish and impeccable provenance.

 In an age of re-badged industrial gins, the Botanist stands out as a truly artisanal, small-batch, hand-crafted labor of love and distiller's art. A breath of botanical Islay in every glass.
