Foursquare 'Equidem' 14 years old 61%

This release from Foursquare distillery is a blend of both pot and column still rums. One batch was matured for five years in ex Bourbon cask, followed by nine years in black Muscat casks. The other batch was matured for a full fourteen years in ex Bourbon casks.  On the nose there are aromas of overripe stone fruits, juicy, boozy sultanas, lemon zest, sweet spice and delicate earthy tones. To taste there are notes of creamy caramel, jammy sweet berries, peach crumble and yellow fleshed plums.

On tasting, the kawakawa is still predominant, but the thyme comes to the fore along with layers of sage, liquorice, and tarata, which binds all these aromas together. There is a long liquorice and citrus finish.
